Cause of Tinnitus
Not sure
Just wondered how many people here restrict salt in their diet? And found it worked. The hydrops diet recommends no more than 1.5 - 2g salt (soduim/salt?) in a day. I find this very hard to follow, especially when not at home. And yet I've had seriously huge spikes when I was following it to the letter.

I made a few major diet changes including sodium intake. It had not lowered my tinnitus but I also never experience spikes like many do. Foods today are processed to death and hard to get the right nutrition from. A loaf of bread that sits on the counter for 3 weeks and still won't get moldy?? Scary!

I cook a lot from scratch now and include many more veggies and fresh fruits into my diet. I also take a Probiotic supplement once a day that has 8 strains of good bacteria and a count of 30 billion of the good bacteria's. This aids in digesting the foods properly to fuel the body well.

Exercise is important also. So indeed try to keep your sodium intake low but don't panic about some salt. Our bodies actually require a balance of salt to function properly. Eat well, exercise a bit more and get the proper amount of sleep.

Too much salt is a silent killer. Saying that I think it is not just the salt but a healthy diet like @MikeP505 just mentioned. A diet, exercise, sleep, avoiding stresse etc are keys for a healthy lifestyle.

Be careful about reducing salt. It can severely affect the electrolytes your body needs to function properly. I found I developed muscular twitches throughout my body. Bringing my salt levels back to previous levels seems to have improved things.

I think in the months after T strikes a lot of us cause a great deal of extra stress on our bodies trying to get rid of the invader. We stop drinking coffee, wine etc. We pump ourselves full of supplements. All this happening at once can throw our systems completely and exacerbate the very thing we're trying to alleviate. Sometimes 'the cure' can be worse than the disease.

I drink a probiotic drink every night. All the important vitamins including magnesium. I make this myself. It is made using kefir grains. These grains look like cauliflower heads. It takes milk to make leaving it to ferment 24 hours. Taking it an hour before bed. No eating after drinking. This kefir is full of the good things. You can buy it at organic shops or health food shops. I suggest you research it

It's a trick, for sure. And one trick works for one guy but not everyone else. Whatever the balance is, know that it takes time. There's no cure-all diet that will work if you repeat it every day. I think it's better to accumulate the nutritional balance over the week instead of the day. Try salt on certain days while lowering it on others.
