There is a body of work behind notch therapy but as with any therapy for tinnitus it will not work for everyone
Indeed. This study seems to claim it does not seem to be effective.

They have an iPhone app as well - I use it at night with "cozy phones" as to not annoy my wife with a sound machine.I wanted to pass along this dynamite site for anyone who wants to hear really good audio sounds for masking tinnitus or just for relaxing or working. They have a vast array to choose from. There are no charges on this site unless you want something special and you can listen to anything you want as often as you want. If you want to give a small donation you can but it isn't necessary. The man who put this all together is Dutch, Stéphane Pigeon, who is a signal processing Ph.D. engineer who travels around the world with high end audio equipment recording sounds. There is a place on the mynoise site where you can calibrate your own hearing for certain recorded sounds they have. I tried it and was amazed. I heard high pitched sounds (bugs in a jungle) that I never heard before . . .it was amazing. I had listened to that same selection before I calibrated my hearing and heard all the jungle sounds but didn't know there were bugs sounds because it was out of my hearing range. It truly was like hearing before I had tinnitus. This guy is serious about what he does and I have never recommended a site before but I am really impressed with the quality of recordings he put together. No claims to curing tinnitus or anything else. He is just providing background sounds for people in all walks of life.
Here is the link to the site:

Unfortunately the only true treatment is time. Some heal, most get better, some get worse. What was the final outcome of this treatment? Did it help?
Thank you for bringing that study to our attention, Greg - in fact 'Notch Theory' (i.e. removing the frequency band of the tinnitus experienced by the sufferer from music etc) seems counter intuitive. Tinnitus, as a result of partial hearing loss, is the brain's response to the missing frequency (i.e. it generates the missing frequency and we hear that as a tinnitus sound).Indeed. This study seems to claim it does not seem to be effective.
You can download it for free, look up the links belowHow are you getting it for $47? I'm only seeing it for $67. I've suffered with this for most of my life. For me, it's worth trying to get even a little bit quieter!
Hi... After having done my due diligence, and having read the above reviews, I Google-discovered this link to an unsecured backdoor to the Tinnitus Terminator site which has the program PDF:
http://tinnitusterminator.net/download/TinnitusTerminator.pdf
And all the mp3 files are available for download if anyone wants to download the entire Tinnitus Terminator program for free...

He's a chameleon!I found 3 different websites with Timothy Seaton listed, with 3 different prices ($97,$47, and $39), -AND 3 DIFFERENT PHOTOS OF MR. SEATON! > WHO is this guy???????
Did you ask for a refund? Hope you did. Get your money back, don't give it to scamsters.I bought the program which consisted of some nature sounds and classical music which you listened to progressively 15 minutes per day. It didnt do a dam thing for me or anyone else that I have talked to. Save your money it is a scam !!!! It is horrible these preditors out there trying to make profits scamming people who are suffering. i think a well placed right hook in this dickheads ear would be well deserved....
I agree with you @nuts. I meant @gotyoubynuts, just a shorter version like @just1. Why do they have to prey on us headringers? Right now it's Otonomy or bust my friends. Hell, I even bought the stock (OTIC)Did you ask for a refund? Hope you did. Get your money back, don't give it to scamsters.
Well, I agree for the most part with this advice but you have to realize that tinnitus can range from mild to unbearable. I doubt any doctor would say "learn to live with it" if his patient was exhibiting signs of extreme anxiety, depression, or thoughts of suicide. I have reactive tinnitus and my mental state has been from one extreme to the other. I have learned to live with it but when I am having a really bad day no one except possible someone who has reactive tinnitus can understand the mental and physical pain I'm in. I'm living with it daily, drug free, and hope that my coping abilities continue to get me to the next day. I really wanted to believe that the Tinnitus Terminator would help . . .I needed some hope and was desperate, but a scam is a scam.So take my doctors advice and learn to live with it. That's also the cheapest treatment around and it's guaranteed
