I smell BS. No way have you gone over to Asia to get some treatment that miraculously has cured your hearing loss and tinnitus. It would be worldwide news if it was safe and effective.
Just because the treatment has worked for one person doesn't imply the treatment is safe and effective.

Please enlighten me what made you to come to this conclusion?

I wonder how many people are going to deny the reality that you can recover hearing to some extent.

Have you researched the mechanisms of action between mesenchymal stem cells and growth factors before making this statement?

Or the fact that Dr. Shim is a known doctor and has been invited to Russia along with other doctors to exchange knowledge?

I personally know a doctor who did intratympanic stem cells before in one of the Russian universities. He first tried it 12 years ago.

Well this is new. I spoke to him on Skype back in October. This is how he replied to me. I had some doubts as before even understanding my scenario he said that I am not ready to be treated yet whatever the hell that means.

How on earth can this person be trusted? Clearly we need more reviews or feedback. He quoted me back then $7,000. I was even willing to go but his replies put me off...

Below is the copy of the transcript:

Amit, 12:08

That conversation is hilarious, maybe you would have had more luck answering "I was born ready"

He did the research on the science behind the treatments based on what he could find about Shim's method, and then after talking to Shim and reading enough scientific backing, he decided to fly out there. Why is that hard to believe? Have you even read through the other thread?

The "world-wide news" argument, Shim being a bit mysterious and unorthodox, is why John decided to go through all of this. Having bone marrow extracted from the pelvis and then have 80 injections into the cochlea isn't something to make up :/. But, everything worked out. John is a good man and did a lot for us.

Don't know. Just seems a bit fishy to me. He regularly winds people up on the forums if you read through his posts. As for Dr Shim, if this was a huge success, I don't understand why it wouldn't be worldwide news.

Got to understand my point of view. I would take it with a pinch of salt.

Just because the treatment has worked for one person doesn't imply the treatment is safe and effective.
It should be effective for most people. Old folk, not so much, but I'd say it's much more safe than other proposed treatments (like gene therapy) because it's repurposing the healing properties of other parts of the body.

Any more volunteers who want to get this done?

I only wanted more information yet his answers were rude and unprofessional and if this worked it would be all over this forum by several members.

I have seen a handful of people cured from tinnitus, hell I even know someone who cured his tinnitus that he had had for 20 years just by listening to a sound track.

It is possible it worked for @JohnAdams, I'm not denying it. I only shared my chat with Dr. Minbo with you all as to me it sounded like a scam. $9K is a lot of money and for this we at least deserve some answers or even published feedback.

Do you or anyone else see this anywhere else on the internet, or any other support groups?

The next best thing to come is the Neuromod device in my opinion.

There is a chance that you were not exchanging messages with the doctor. Could it be that you e-mailed the wrong person and he decided to be a troll instead of telling you that he wasn't the doctor you wanted to speak to? I just can't imagine that a legitimate doctor would talk to potential patients like that.

The doctor was Wong to talk to him like that.

Kindly see attached. If this is not Dr. Minbo Shim, then please enlighten me who is the real Dr. Minbo Shim.

Well, I just spent 12 days in his clinic and he's not rude at all. He was actually very caring and professional. One of the most down to earth human beings I have ever met.

Hey @JohnAdams. First of all this is amazing news and props to you for making this happen. My one question was how long has it been since your acoustic trauma with the guitar amp? Also what is the link to the clinic's website again?
Like April 28th 2018. I'm definitely in the chronic stage. :(

Just start over with a simple hello and give him time to answer your questions.

First off the first 3 questions you asked him without waiting for a response were based on your own misunderstanding.
1. Solsaem, that's why his clinic is called Solsaem clinic.
2. His address is listed on his Korea website.
3. He is not in Russia. He has plans to eventually open a clinic there. If you would do adequate research you would have seen that his method is also patented in Korea and America.

He is not rude at all. If you're serious about visiting his clinic you should start over with him. And what does Neuromod even have to do with this?

Based on what? Why were you quiet on the forums for many months, to only return when Minbo Shim scam was again being talked about?

This topic demands some serious questioning! @Paulmanlike has hit the nail on the head!
What are you talking about???
Have you seen this video?

2:55 you can see Dr. Shim in Russia.

Are you saying that "scams" get invited to other countries by government health care agency?

There is a lot of research that show stem cells and growth factors restore hearing.

As I've said in my previous post I personally know a doctor who did intratympanic MSCs.
In fact I recently flew out to another city just to meet him.

Wow. You really went to his clinic. Just like you said, man!;)

Much respect. I really hope it will help you. Seems like you are benefitting already?

Very happy for you, John! Insane how many injection that is needed though . That can´t be pleasant!

I of course wish you the best and hope you get your old life back. If it does work well, I hope it has a lasting effect. Did you hear of any famous and/or wealthy people that had the injections you have had there? Did he use a laser to make a hole in your eardrum? That's what Shea Clinic used on me in 2011.

Nope, just syringes. PRP makes the holes close up really well. I'm guessing that's why they use it in myringoplasty.

Moderate hearing loss, 45 dB hearing loss.
The more the merrier. I would have stayed an extra week and got more but I have to be back at work plus the Korea lunar holiday starts Monday.

It would be nice if I could go to a PRP clinic in my own town and get shots every week or so. Regenerating the cochlea can take time and many treatments.

That, I cannot answer. But he did say it's easier to treat acute cases.
That would add up with Liberman's research about AN fibers degenerating after synapses die.

Can you ask him how long the therapeutic window is, if he knows?

I understand the more the merrier in order to regenerate the cochlea, but I'm asking if this treatment would help those with moderate hearing loss, as we know it works for mild hearing loss...?

Nope, just syringes. PRP makes the holes close up really well. I'm guessing that's why they use it in myringoplasty.

Did the hole close up from one injection to the next or were they able to "reuse the existing hole"? If the latter, was the sensation different? (I've had an IT injection before and was wondering what it would feel like if they had to go through an existing hole)

When possible please post as many pictures as you can showing the clinic, doctor, location, trip in general!

And if you can, please, post your audiogram before and after.
I sure will. Please allow me about 2 months because that's the duration of the recovery period. One will be from Dr. Shim's office, the other will be from some yet undetermined audiologist in America.
