SoundCure Serenade Tinnitus Treatment System

@DebInAustralia

The s-tones are part of the SoundCure Serenade device. There is a long thread in the treatments section. @Steve just posted some MP3 samples. There are similar sounds in MyNoise.net also. Basically, s-tones are amplitude modulated sounds and they supposed to have stronger effect in the cortex than just noise or rain sounds.

Tried the 8500Hz S-tone that Steve created, it's just unpleasant to hear, tried for about 2 mins and could not continue haha. Thanks @Steve , my left ear T is around 8300-8500 so maybe tomorrow I will try to use it at least 10 min and see if I get any improvements.

Quick note. You should listen to the tone at a level just below your tinnitus, so you can still hear the tinnitus. After a maximum 2 minutes the idea is that it should suppress the tinnitus.

People who have used the Serenade device may have some other pointers here or some guidance on how the tones fit into the treatment strategy.

How is your tinnitus these days Steve? Your doing well I hope!

Regards, Mike
Hi Mike.

It's loud and annoying but I'm pretty much habituated. Spikes here and there, bit of a one recently. Can't let it get to you though, the worst thing you can do is stop and listen, realise how loud it actually is and let it rule you.

@Steve
Does it not matter at which frequency your T is for these 40 Hz tones and how long would you suggest listening to it?
Hi Emmi,

For this particular technique it doesn't need to match a tinnitus tone, it's quite general. If you feel that it has suppressed your tinnitus after the 5 minutes (less really) then it works on you.

It's an experiment with sound so there isn't a listening regime. I guess that you can take a cue from ACRN and listen for no longer than an hour at a time and no more than 4-6 hours a day as a guide. If it helps you it helps, it's all good.

I'd love to do some tests on these sorts of sounds and see if they actually do reduce tinnitus, who knows, we may be able to do that one day with researchers.

I can send you the sound file if you want it.

Hey Steve,

Im being daft. I cant find your s tones files. Do you have one to match 6000khz please?

Talk about spikes am I the only one that has a spike come every night? My T goes through the roof come nightime. I would call it a spike!
Mine generally gets worse as the day goes on, not always but the majority of the time. According to our survey we have that in common with 19% of people with tinnitus.

@DebInAustralia Here you go, attached is a 6,000Hz file

Thanks Steve

I just listened to the file.

It changed the hiss to a metallic sound.

Can that happen?
I guess so. The idea is that when you listen to it - just below your tinnitus volume - if it works you should get a suppression of the tinnitus after a couple of minutes.

A question..

I have a few layers of noises..

The hissing which sometimes pulsates can be suppressed with white noise ..

Almost leaves me with a central tone that i can also modulate with pure tones ..

But it comes back of course ..

Is this common? What bout if i played white noise and pure tones? Has anyone done this?

Hi Steve

I would really appreciate if you can make me a sound SERENADE at 9000 Hz . I am using Serenade and unfortunately it is broken . Until I ll get the replacement device it will take weeks

Thanks a lot by advance

I'm just doing what we're all not supposed to be doing and Googling around for T. Came across this;

http://www.soundcure.com/

I know it's unlikely someone who was actually treated with this is still going to be on the forums, but has anyone heard of it? What interests me is that they are recognised by the British Tinnitus Association and their Facebook etc. has quiet a lot of information regarding roadshows and participation in national awareness events.

Do you mean the BTA logo on the footer of SoundCure's website?

That's just corporate membership, basically it means that a company has donated money to BTA (by buying the Corporate Membership). In exchange, BTA allows the company to use that Corporate Member badge.

It doesn't convey that BTA recommends a certain company, or treatment.

Yup. They do seem to have a good presence at T events and whatnot. They at least don't come off as the usual snake-oil.

Would anyone know if SoundCure is still in business?

It has been quite a while since I talked with anyone there, but as I recall they were working on a new product that could be used with a smartphone.

I have tried to Google it, but all the sites say is be back soon.

I've heard that SoundCure no longer operates (unverified, don't have official source to quote).

They have removed their Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube pages too.

Another tinnitus business casualty.... nothing works as we all know. It seems that time is up for these companies trying to sell MP3 players with customized sounds for many thousands of dollars. Is Otoharmonics (Levo system) next?

I recently had my luggage stolen and it had my SoundCure in the bag.

Does anyone have a SoundCure Machine that they would like to sell?

It worked for me, but I understand it does not work for everyone.

If you purchased one and it did not work for you, let me know if you would be interested in selling one to me. Thanks.
