Cause of Tinnitus
Ciproflox or walking past an extremely loud jackhammer.
I am barely hanging in there at the moment. But I am hanging in there, I have kids... I got to hold on for their sake. I try really hard to think positive every day. But it is hard. At times really hard. I pretty much habituated. I only had bad days and spikes. But I managed mostly to not listen to my tinnitus during the daytime.

But these past few days my tinnitus is insane. I try to think... hey relax it could be worse.

I have an ear infection (staph).
I got Cetraxal Comp (Ciprofloxacin) for my ears... tinnitus got increased. But I got told the infection will be really bad if I don't use antibiotics (and yes it is resistant but seems to go down with Quinolones).

And knowing I still have a few days left with eardrops for a staph infection in my ear, And every time I need to take the eardrops I feel I possibly might get even worse, or damage my ears more. Get louder tinnitus.....

These days I lost hope and I am scared... I feel like giving up. I can't do this anymore.
But then... I can't really give up... so I sit here trying to keep myself from totally freaking out. And I am tired and torn.

I just needed to voice that out somewhere.

Hang in there, you have more strength than you know. It can take a while to get better. You have to relax yourself, keep busy. Work a routine of things to do. And you can move forward.

Isn't there another antibiotic that you might try? This one definitely causes tinnitus, the other one might be easier on your body...

I feel furious when I read posts like yours.

The cause of my onset (I believe) is cipro. I know many others who have ended up with debilitating tinnitus from this drug. It needs to be banned.

I would be looking at other options to treat your infection. Have you considered mullein oil ear drops?

Did you use ear drops too?

I don't have other options since the staph infection is hard to get rid of. I have tiny ear canals, and I can't get terracortril inside, it is too little space.
My tinnitus started in 2012 after 3 weeks on cipro pills.
So I was already scared when I got eardrops.

I tried terra cortril but my ear canals are so small The drops dont reach all the way.
I am going back to the Ent tomorrow. I will ask him then.

I wish we had a safe option
