Struggling with Long Spike

I'm pretty much in the same situation.

T for 2.5 years. After a few dark weeks, got on with life and coped fine. Only heard at night and masked with mixture of white noise and crickets.

Randomly turning the radio over in the car last Tuesday and noticed a sound in my left ear. That's now gone, but I can't help but focus on the high pitched sound from my right/head.

I don't think it's got louder than before, I can hear it over TV and stuff, but can recall I could when it started. However, I can hear it at work now I'm in a quieter office and even over my crickets at night.

I know focusing on it will only be bad, but I can't seem to stop myself. What is scary is that fact that I thought I habituated, and now this! It's not changed, but my brain now says it's a threat!!

So again, woke up this morning at my usual time for work only to be greeted by what seems an increase in tinnitus in my right ear. It was only Monday that I had a spike in my left ear that is still lingering today.

I have no idea if its the new obsession over my ears recently that is causing me to notice them more, or if something really isn't quite right. The problem is, my routine hasn't changed, I'm doing nothing differently from when my ears were pretty normal.

It isn't exactly bothering me at the moment, I can sleep fine and work fine, its just frustrating to know there is no cause when I do hear it.
