Cause of Tinnitus
no clue. past headphone use, probably.
so i'm new, but also not new? i've been lurking since last year sometime; mostly checking in on the support sections, but i randomly felt like making an account. to follow a few users that seemed pretty knowledgeable + threads that interested me but w/e

so i do have a few questions! 1, is there a general vent or chat thread i could use? secondly, what project in the tinnitus world do you have your eye on?

i faintly recall a pill that could restore hearing loss? i think it was in the early stages of testing, or something...that interests me.

anyway anyway i may not be that terribly active here, but i do hope we get along ^_^. also hope we all get a cure, proper treatment, or just general good news within the next few years!

pill that could restore hearing loss?
Are you referring to the work of Frequency Therapeutics, Decibel Therapeutics and Otonomy. They are working on medicines directly injected into the inner ear to regenerate hair cells and reconnect nervous tissue with hair cells. It's not a oral pill more like an injection inside the inner or particle transfer inside the inner ear.

I have my eye and ear on Decibel Therapeutics and Otonomy because they are focusing on the most common form of hearing loss that is called cochlear synatopathy (death of cochlear ribbon synapses) which causes trouble hearing in background noise.

i feel like this may be it? the pill was cx-[something], far as i can remember. but i could be remembering wrong haha
what you linked looks interesting, though the idea of getting an injection in my ear is unsettling
but i'd def do it, if it could rid me of t :cautious:

There was something about epilepsy pills helping people with tinnitus? And Dr. Thanos Tzounopoulos was given a 2 million dollar grant to research into that I think.
