Hi All,

Looking for any teachers out there that might have any tips and tricks for me? My tinnitus is high pitched and in both ears but more pronounced on my left side.

I teach high school and of course with masks in I'm having so much trouble hearing my students. I'm honestly considering switching careers because it's become so bad. On top of that I'm having trouble staying focused and all the extra work I am doing right now is killing me.

I'll take any advice ya got!

I teach, but it's not in a normal setting so I'm going to refrain from giving advice. I know I could not teach high school classes of 25+ pupils.
You could consider a switch to a job in education that doesn't involve school buildings, classrooms and the like? I'm sure COVID-19 has shaken up the traditional idea of teaching and there will be many opportunities in the future in terms of e-learning and online courses.

Totally agree. Pandemic teaching is its own ballgame.

Hi All,

I've posted before how hard it has been with my tinnitus in my teaching job.

I finally resigned. 17 days left.

Hoping I can find some peace!

Good you took action. It's not worth it doing it against your will. What will you pursue next if I may ask?

Thanks! Right now I'm going to focus on making hybrid learning as effective as I can for my daughter and then I think I'll explore going back into my old business what was real estate financing. I can make that work and still feel comfortable in my body.

Thanks for asking.

I'm so sorry you had to resign. Teaching is difficult even without tinnitus. I can't imagine teaching with it. Maybe online teaching might be an option for you.

Wish you the best,
twa

I'd like to hear an update regarding your situation if you're willing to give one.
