I've noticed that most of the time, my ear that has tinnitus (right) feels warmer to the touch than the left one that doesn't have tinnitus. I can also feel the artery behind that ear pulsing more prominently than on other side (doctor has told me that's because that artery is more superficial than on left side).

For those with tinnitus in one ear, is it similar for you? I'm trying to figure out if there's a connection there and, if so, what that might mean as far as a cause goes.

I have the same problem with my ear. It turns red and is warm to the touch. The ear is connected. Outer ear, middle ear, inner ear. The hair cells in the cochlea are damaged. In some cases the hearing organ, the cochlea, is destroyed. Either from ear infection or bacterial meningitis . Or some kind of trauma. You are not alone. Tinnitus is from hair cells damage. The cochlea when not functioning properly, we hear the sound in our ear. This is tinnitus. It's like a broken speaker in a way. The hair cells don't function properly anymore. Their is no cure for tinnitus. No treatment for hair cell damage. One day a cochlea implant may be put in. FDA has approved single sided deafness for a cochlea implant. It will take a way a lot of the tinnitus or all of it. Each person is different.
