Thiamine Pyrophosphate (TPP) Stopped My Tinnitus!

The brain altering effects really didn't agree with me. I still don't feel right. I'm not taking another lol but I hope it helps you.
I have a theory why it didn't agree with you. If your glycination pathway (liver detox pathway) is not optimal, Glycine supplements might aggravate rather than help you relax.

I vaguely recall reading that Glycine in some people, might activate sensitized NMDA receptors. I can see how this might have created sleep issues.

If that's the case, then that would point to glutamate excess. So perhaps trial Taurine and GABA without the Glycine.

Ah thanks, that makes sense. So what is glutamate excess indicative of? Since my bad reaction to Doxycycline, I've also noticed that I cannot really tolerate caffeine, it makes me shaky and gives me the sweats...

None of that made any sort of sense. So what if a certain pathway is inhibited, when none of this crosses the BBB.

I didn't get on well with the GABA Calm that arrived yesterday. I took one and it made it difficult for me to sleep. Still feel wired this morning!
I owe you an apology, haha. I'll be doing the exact same thing, commenting after 1 day for the sole reason that I had an absolutely insane night.

I took 2 GABA Calms yesterday, one in the morning, one right before bed.

I went to sleep and it was as if I had taken XTC and ran a marathon at the same time. I was absolutely undoubtedly insanely wired. I think I slept 3 hours, max. Still feel a bit wired this morning...

So much for the CALM in GABA Calm :D

EDIT: After a bit of research, it seems more people have raised insomnia and anxiety with GABA, mostly related to dosage and timing. I will be taking only 1 lozenge of 750 mg in the morning, not a second one in the evening. I am not planning to drop it yet, as it clearly does something.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one! The wired feeling hanging on for some of the next day too! I'm too scared to take anymore for now so keep us posted on how you get on Ben!

I've been experimenting with this product, taking anywhere from 1-3 lozenges a day. At this point, I'm not sure I need more than one, as I first noticed a softening of both my head and ear tinnitus the very next day after taking only one. At first I didn't make a connection, until I remembered later on I had taken it. Since I'd never taken one of those before, and since it's quite rare for me to experience such a noticeable reduction at any given time, I'm pretty convinced there's a direct correlation. Especially since I've not returned to my previous higher baseline levels.

It's possible this worked well for me because my GABA levels were too low to begin with. There's likely people with tinnitus that already have GABA levels that are optimal, and they may not notice the kind of effects that I did, or somebody else might who have abnormally low GABA levels.
@Lane, when you say "head tinnitus," do you mean that it is a buzzing type of tinnitus? I have a hiss and a buzz, the buzz is the most annoying of the two in my particular case.

Did you ever try to take GABA Calm before sleep and did it affect your sleep negatively at all?

Do you let the lozenge dissolve under your tongue or do you just swallow it?

As per their own website, they advise to dissolve it in the mouth before swallowing: "For best results, allow to dissolve in the mouth before swallowing. Suggested Use: 1 lozenge 1 to 3 times daily."

Hi @Ben Winders -- Definitely not buzzing, more like a high-pitched, vibrational screeching. It has moved around a lot from the beginning of my tinnitus onset four years ago. For a long time, I had intense tinnitus in my solar plexus, heart, and throat areas, in addition to it being in my head and ears. It seemed to have somewhat of a center in my throat. I've seen one other comment on this forum about someone having tinnitus centered in their throat.

From my symptom locations, I deduced my vagus nerve was likely a major factor in my tinnitus. It runs through all the areas I mentioned, and has nerve endings in the ear as well (auricular branch of the vagus nerve). So I began focusing on doing a number of things that are supposed to stimulate the vagus nerve. Singing and gargling often came up as being able to do that, most likely because the vagus nerve runs through the throat.

This gave me some insight into why singing and music are such important aspects of most spiritual traditions. They essentially (would seem to) stimulate the whole body (and psyche). I regularly sing a spiritual mantra called the "Song of HU", and feel it helps calm my ears, body, mind, & psyche, and kind of "transmutes" my tinnitus, making it feel much less intrusive.

Regarding sleep, it normally doesn't take much for something to disrupt my sleep (like chocolate any time during the day). But I didn't get any kind of sense the GABA Calm did so. However, I still take my daily lozenge during the day to help avoid any potential of it causing insomnia. I do let it dissolve under my tongue for several minutes.

There is also another Thiamine derivative that is more commonly available, called "Sulbutiamine" which is sold under the brand name "Arcalion". Did anyone try it for tinnitus?

I found TPP cheaply available in pharmacies too, the generic name of the compound is Cocarboxylase so you may search for that instead of Thiamine Pyrophosphate. It is usually sold with other B-complex vitamins and ATP as an IM injection. I just took a shot now and praying for a miracle...

I have been taking 1 lozenge of GABA CALM and 1 Coenzymated B1 for 23 days now. No difference in my buzzing tinnitus. I will keep using until the bottle runs out.

Hi all,

After a recent setback I started taking vitamins again.

I have tried Thiamin Hydrochloride recently, and I have to say it has removed my morse code tinnitus. But the general tone I have in my ear still remains.

I will keep a log of how my tinnitus fluctuates, and continue taking this vitamin B1 for some time (a month or so) and report back here if it really helps.

@Ben Winders, do you have any issues with dairy (casein)?

I have that head buzzing tinnitus too, it's not from my ear. But I can get it to go away with diet.

I just ordered Thiamine Pyrophosphate (TPP) with Calm GABA.

The reason I'm here to today is because I had a random spike which I tracked back to some chips that I ate yesterday.

What gave me my head buzz spike was cheese cultures found in pita chips. I believe my tinnitus is a sensitivity symptom of casein found in cow's milk. I accidentally ate those chips without looking at the packaging because I was hungry. For me, most dairy causes gut inflammation, bloating, brain fog, and higher dB tinnitus. It can take 1-2 weeks to get out of the system.

This thread by @Azariah is potentially fraudulent. A different person (not born in 1985) with the same profile picture extolled the benefits of Thiamine for antidepressant withdrawal here.
I have started to suspect that many fraudulent accounts report success with drugs or other methods here on Tinnitus Talk.

Once, before Lenire launched, a member claimed that his tinnitus and visual snow had healed with another device to boost Lenire's sales, I guess since the guy who worked on this device moved over to work at Lenire. There was another member who claimed Retigabine cured him, etc.

These accounts had one thing in common: they were relatively new members of Tinnitus Talk, clearly created to advertise stuff.

I don't believe a cure is coming anymore.

I also don't trust anything the user @Clare B said about Lenire — it's a very suspicious profile.

Tinnitus Talk staff should filter these kinds of false hope spreaders/advertisers in the future. I am adamant that both @Mpt and @kelpiemsp are fraudulent profiles.

@Mpt was quite active back in the day, the staff exchanged several conversations with him, and there was no reason to suspect him of being a fraudulent account. We did have to ban him temporarily for breaking our rules, but that had nothing to do with his authenticity.

@Clare B and @kelpiemsp are absolutely not fraudulent profiles. They are confirmed to be who they say they are, and we know their real life identities.

Of course, you can always put on a tin foil hat and assume that every success story is fake and concocted by someone with financial interests, or otherwise dishonestly.

I never really took @Clare B's testimony that seriously because at the time she was a fairly new case (being only circa 18 months since onset), and her tinnitus appeared to be relatively garden variety. With that and Neuromod's inability to control, I don't believe the placebo effect can be ruled out in her situation.

I have to say, I've pretty much reached the end of any personal interest in bimodal stimulation. The lack of true placebo control and poorly designed trials is farcical. I'm much more interested in the in-ear canal stimulation that Heidi Olze is researching. She recently commented about controlling for a placebo. She said words to the effect that we place the device in the ear canal and it is either switched on or off - the patient doesn't know, and that is how we control.

Hopefully, we're finally seeing a little bit of common sense filtering through.

I want to try TPP, but all the links provided are for the US or have expired. I am from Italy (European Union), and I am not sure what formulation is the right one. Can anyone point me to the right product?

Do you think I can ask a pharmacy with a lab to make it for me?

I think this is the right version, but I'm not 100% sure.

I should really stop buying supplements, but I'm interested in your findings.

I hope it works for you.
Thanks a lot for the positivity. It will be hard to say because I am taking a wide range of supplements, but I think that they are useful for the organism in general anyway. I am two weeks in and feeling much better already. I hope the trend continues, but I also know that this needs patience and time.

My account is not fraudulent. The person in the other forum has nothing in common with me, aside from also choosing a blue butterfly as her icon. She has a different birthday than mine, and she's discussing thiamine for depression. I'm talking about TPP for tinnitus.

I made it very clear that thiamine alone did nothing to help my tinnitus.

For the record, I have been on Tinnitus Talk answering questions for eight years. You've only been here for three months.

My account is not fraudulent. I've been an active member of Tinnitus Talk for eight years.

The guy you're replying to, though, has been a member here for a total of three months.

You yourself have been a member here for less than one year.

Thank you, @Markku. I have been an active member of Tinnitus Talk for EIGHT years. I've spent dozens of hours trying to help people. It's discouraging to be called out as "fraudulent" by a guy who has been a member here for a total of three months.

How's it going now? It's been about two months since you started the TPP.
