Cause of Tinnitus
hearing loss for long time, chainsaw, infections
This spike is obnoxious to say the least, my tinnitus is always loud but this is a bit brutal. I can usually shake it off, but this one is relentless. There's no getting away from it. Absolutely savage sometimes this curse is.

Sorry about the spike. Do you know what might have triggered it? If it is too intrusive, you may want to mask it. If it is high pitch, try cicadas, heavy rain, waterfall, waves, shower sound, even squeaky faucet sound (that was what I had to use to mask my ultra high pitch T).

Hi Jake,
Sorry to hear your ear is giving you a hard time .
Maybe pop in see your doctor to get it checked out and see if can give you something incase a infection is brewing..
Love glynis

I'm just getting my incredible spike down, only total silence helps, not masking. Mine has lasted a week so far, sometimes intolerable, but I'm hoping it will settle to its normal very loud tone, rather than the Very VERY loud both ears and head noise.

Mind caused by a noisy gathering, and a concert, with ear plugs last Sunday. Mind blowing, isn't it.

Thanks for the support guys, I have no idea what triggered this thing. It came out of nowhere.

Once it settles, do you plan to continue attending concerts?

I went to a concert on sat. first one since T started 4 month ago. the music maxed out my phone meter at 95db. Im sure it was well over 100. It was a 2 day event but i gave away my ticket for the second day. I just couldnt do it even with foam plugs. The 70hz bass pass right through the plugs like nothing even in the back area.

so far i had a mild increase in T. nothing crazy. This is probably the laat concert i will go to though

Were you exposed to noises like that of a vacuum cleaner or a motor boat within a week or two of the beginning of this spike?
No I haven't, the only loud sounds I hear are at work. I've been doing the same stuff I always do and never had a spike like this before.

Yeah I wear 33db plugs and the Peltor muffs over that.
Could you take time (a month?) off of work to see whether staying away from the noise at work helps your T? This is tricky, as of course you could naturally get better over time. Another possibility is that the ear protection you have been using is not enough and noise at work is hurting your ears...

I wish I could take a month off but I can't. I bought the best of everything I could for protection. I don't know what else I can do? I'm sure my job doesn't help cause it is very loud. It's probably cause of that.

Do you have the store bought foam plugs or customs one's.I work construction and use the foam one and the make my ears hurt and I would spike bad the custom one are molded to your ears and fell better

I have the foam ones from Menards, they make my ears hurt to. What all machinery and tools do you have to use?

Do the custom plugs make a big difference in the reduction of noise? It really sucks having this shit when you are already established at a loud job. Your job is very loud as well.

About the same on noise reduction but fell better and let some sound in sorry about so many posts dealing with a backing dog and my kids bugging the he'll out of me

Are there ways that you could reduce your exposure at work?

Not really it's construction tractor digs the hole we put the pipe in the ground there is only so much ear protection you can have it's life you deal with it and move on you just have to be smart about it I see so many people doing the same work as I do with no protection at all and it freaks me out I've had this T shit for 36 years now just got worse about 4 years ago

I got a hearing aid to couple months ago, I don't even wear it anymore because I get this big fullness/ plugged/clogged pressure feeling whenever I take it out. So I only put it in when it gets bad. It has had no effect on this dam spike.
