Hi everyone,

I recently noticed that my right ear thumps whenever I walk, run or skip up and downwards. It's not crazy loud as I can't generally hear it when out running unless I focus on it. It's in sync with the footsteps. What does it mean? Can it damage the ear?

I'm going to mention it to the ENT but I'm afraid they'll run some dangerous test.

Hey guys,

Has anyone experienced thumping in their ear while walking? I usually find if I don't have shoes on, then this happens.

It does not happen all the time but when it does, it can last from hours to days.

Did you ever find out why?

No, when I heelstrike it's less obvious than when I strike with the forefoot. Also, it depends on whether my nose is stuffed. Wonder if it could cause damage...
I notice it happening if I don't have shoes on hard surfaces, but not every day.

Must have something to do with the Eustachian tubes or sinuses IMO. On my MRI they saw one grey area where a sinal cavity is located at the back of my head, indicating it's filled with fluid instead of being clear. They didn't think it was the cause of my tinnitus and honestly I wouldn't know how it could be resolved.

Yeah I also think the same.
