Cause of Tinnitus
Marijuana use
Hi! On September 27th for the first time in my life I smoked weed with my friend... Right after smoking I felt extreme headache and got panic attack(thought I'm gonna die lol). Then the real horror came.... I felt buzzing in my ears and it never left... Every day I regret doing weed :(

Could it be that I smoked too much (500- 700 mg was in the joint)?

I even got mild HPPD from that (visual snow, object dilates etc...)

I just can't figure out how is this possible.... :'(

I actually use marijuana for my tinnitus... it gets rid of bad thoughts but to each their own? My doctor also sent me an email because I asked about the weed and she said only tobacco makes tinnitus louder, not weed.

Sounds unlikely, maybe a coincidence? How loud is the buzzing?
Seriously don't beat yourself up as tinnitus is a joke when it comes to its randomness...
You'll see so many possible causes on here and every one of us is cross with themselves or someone. You were obviously unknowingly prone to it (one day we might know why)... like many of us here.

I like this answer. Totally agree.

Did you go to a doctor? A doctor may not be able to help but that's the first step. Coincidences do happen and strong marijuana may have been the trigger but not the actual cause.

What in the world is "500-700 mg in the joint"? Mg's of what, plant matter?

I struggle to believe cannabis could cause tinnitus but it could cause one to notice it for the first time. The way you describe the joint sounds odd. Are you sure it was cannabis? There are stronger and weaker varieties and differing amounts of THC, CBD and other cannabinoids in weed so the weight measurement given means nothing. If there is a connection then I could better believe it has some additive or pesticide in it. All herbal medications must be organically grown and free of pesticides or they are of little use and can even be harmful. Why I grow my own to be certain.

No matter the cause, I hope you get the help you need from competent doctors. I pray it fades and/or goes away completely.

Im sure it was cannabis. I felt effect of it (everything was slow, rapid heart beat etc...) think I smoked cannabis with high amount of THC. We call it hybrid(mixture of strains). I also think my tinnitus is of psychological origin because I was extremely anxious prior to smoking because marijuana is illegal and basically my friends forced me to smoke it.

I went to the ENT and it said I'm ok. I even done CT of the brain and it came fine. I think my tinnitus is a result of extreme fear I felt prior to smoking.

Thank you so much for kind words!

Was it laced with something else? Or are you sure of the origin of the weed? Quality control is one of the reasons why weed needs to be legalized. Tommy Chong would agree :)
