Hello everyone,

I have been struggling with T for more than 2 years now. I have been more or less successful and managed to keep the devil in control by regular excercise, taking some chinese herb medicine and acupuncture. Before that I have tried several other staff (betahistamini etc.) but nothing was successful until the chinese herb medicine and acupuncture which helped to lower the volume. Occassionaly, it would go up again but it would always settle to certain level which did not bother me (at least during the day).

But now, I have graduated, started my first job and suddenly I can hear unbearable ringing even during the day. Has anyone experienced something like that?

Thanks!

no, no loud environment, I have become an associate (junior lawyer), the posture habits might have changed since I am sitting the whole day - but I started just yesterday and noticed T becoming louder in the evening the first day, I thought that it would settle the next day, but today from the early morning it is just unbearable....

most of us hear unbearable ringing throughout the day ........
just grin and take it till you habituate
nothing else works

A proper 2 week holiday is the only time my T improves. Working is stressful and tiring and makes T worse for a lot of people. At moment my job is ultrastressful and my T is through the roof. In fact, I'm thinking I need a new job as I don't know how to keep going with all the stress and extra hours.

Working in an evironment that requires you to be mentally active and even physically active in a way will result in higher brain functions. This means your sensory system will be more alert and more chemicals will be transmitted throughout your brain. Although I haven't taken enough credits and graduated with a degree (plus the few extra years of any other sort of educational value put into becoming a practitioner in any field of medicine) to call myself a doctor.....I strongly believe that the ringing you distinguish in your head/ears, wherever you want it to be, is associated with your emotional well-being. By that, I mean the ringing you hear was once something that chemically allowed you to receive what we call emotions through neurotransmitting functions between the inner ear and your brain. The reason you've noticed louder ringing is because these areas of your brain were such a crucial emotional connection to your brains functional standing, that it's still trying to use them. Stress can be looked at in a way where your brain is functioning at a high level and in a way where it's not receiving enough feel good chemicals.

What are ways we can get rid of "stress"? Any sort of activity that results in risen chemical levels without put forth much brain functioning efforts. Marijuana, alcohol, sex, plenty of other drugs. But what's not understood with tinnitus is that what once was there and is now ringing you "hear" was once something that gave you the ability to receive feel good chemicals from the world around you.

You don't have to believe what I'm talking about. It's a free world to speak about anything we want. I could be right. I could be wrong. It's up to you to decide on that. But I sure do have realized that much of today's practitioners do not know much about how we as humans work. They know how to prescribe you medicine, they know how to give one simple talk like "don't be so stressed out", and they most certainly know how to get you in and get you out. Counting this more than both five fingers on each hand of who I've experienced this with is not a good thing. Rant over.

You just started a new job that would make anyone a little stressed until they adapt and feel more comfortable and settled in your new position. I would hit the gym as often as possible, continue accupuncture, take a little walk after lunch. Practice relaxation techniques by clenching and relaxing your shoulders and other parts of the body a couple times in the morning and afternoon. Perhaps ask your MD you are suffering from anxiety and depression and take low dosage of xanax until you settle in if you cant do it with the other techniques. Seems with most people stress increases T so you have to learn to keep your stress to a minimum. I do practice stress reduction and it works for me. I get so into my job that most of the time I dont even notice my T. and own a business. You will be alright and will get through this period.
