Unknown. Noise maybe?
Title basically explains what happened, I went to get an MRI a few days ago, I spent about 40 minutes in the cramped machine, it was extremely loud, even with hearing protection. My tinnitus has been MUCH louder ever since that MRI, the results just came in and say that my brain is completely "normal" which baffled me.

So here I am 3 days after an MRI, I haven't learned ANYTHING about what caused my symptoms and my already extreme tinnitus has spiked even more ever since and hasn't improved one bit. I'm essentially having to accept the fact I made my tinnitus louder for absolutely nothing. Those machines are way too loud, it just wasn't worth it at all. I wouldn't recommend an MRI unless you're absolutely sure there's something seriously wrong with your brain.

This is medicine in the 21st century.

@Nathan McAlum

What hearing protection did you wear in the MRI?

This spike from the MRI is more likely to be temporary, and reduce in volume over time.
They had a pretty bad pair of earplugs, but they gave me a pair of muffs over them, which I assumed would be enough to prevent my T from getting louder but it clearly wasn't. It helped a little though, but not enough.

A lot of the places use the PVC foam ones, not the better PU ones. There is a reason they are only NRR 29, but better earplugs get a NRR 33 rating.

This sucks, I need to take several MRIs to check just how banged up my joints are, but nothing is worth risking an increase in T.
