Cause of Tinnitus
Stress/Hearing loss
Hey! I'm a 26 years old girl from Norway with tinnitus for three weeks now. I'm almost deaf in my left ear, and have had a mild tinnitus for about 10 years that never bothered me.

The tinnitus that appeared three weeks ago came after a massive anxiety attack and being stressed about that for days, clenching jaw etc. I've have had anxiety attacks/long periods of anxiety before so this was nothing new. But laying on my mother couch, trying to relax, a sound sounding like sheep bells appeared in my head! I though it was linked with the anxiety and would go away with it, so I didn't freak out before after a week, when I was feeling all fine but the ringing was still there! :( That's when the panic, anxiety, depression started, as for all of us.

After 2 weeks with laying in bed at home, stressing and feeling very claustrophobic, my almost deft ear started to make a high pitched vacuum cleaner kinda sound.

So now I'm stuck with these two sounds in my head! I'm still waiting for my appointment at the ear specialist, but could take a long time til I will be called in. I'm trying my best to stay positive. My biggest dream right now is to be able to write a success story on this forum some day. Sucks to put my life on hold! I also lost my appetite.

Hope I will feel better after a while and maybe able to ignore the sounds. I'm really happy I found this forum, feels good to read positive stories and being able to connect with people who have been through the same things! <3

Hi @Sammy90

I am sorry to hear of your troubles with tinnitus. Anxiety and depression are very common with tinnitus. But, you should try not to let it cause you to "put your life on hold". As three of @Michael Leigh 's like above describe, maintaining a positive attitude will help with coping. And one way many have found to reduce the anxiety associated with tinnitus is to participate in activities that you enjoy, and they will help take your mind off of the tinnitus, and the less you focus on it, the less it will cause anxiety.

I also lost my appetite.

That also seems to be common, and may be associated with the depression. Please be careful, a friend of mine here on this site also had trouble eating as a result of tinnitus and the related depression, and one day was so weakened due to lack of food, fainted, and could have been seriously hurt. It is difficult to eat when anxious, but you have to take care of yourself. You have enough stress right now, you do not need something that is so preventable to potentially cause you more problems.

I am sure you will be able to write your success story, and I look forward to reading it.

I wish you well, and please keep us updated on your progress.

Hello Sammy. I would suggest you to seek also for some psychiatric help as soon as possible for some basic evaluation (if you will feel down couple more days). A good doctor can decide whether you need some medication. I was able to "resist" without any AD-type medication for almost two months, then I started to feel that my mental state is too low.. I got prescribed light AD and it keeps my spirits still kinda up. And I can fight with T little bit harder.
Can I be little bit courious? Where are you from exactly in Norway?

You always spam the same links and it's never helpful. If you're going to help people at least try.
I have actually found them really helpful. Just maybe for a new T sufferer, there a lot of them are aimed to habituation and not mentioning possible healing (spontaneously or by finding the reason for the T onset). And I still personally feel there is real chance that every type of the may T fade (but also may not).

@threefirefour

Since you have criticised me I have a right to criticise you. I have many years experience with tinnitus and spent a lot of time and effort writing the posts in the links above. I hope that people having difficulty with their tinnitus will find them helpful. I prefer to paste those links instead of sounding like a parrot and keep writing the same thing over and over again. As yet I haven't had any complaints.

I have written around 60 posts including my article Tinnitus, A Personal View, which took me many months to write and I had a lot of difficulty writing it due to severe intrusive tinnitus. My good friend @glynis knows just how much difficulty I had writing it and many times I gave up as my tinnitus was so loud.

All you ever do is click "like" "like and more "like" on other people's posts. It got so annoying @Gl0w0ut had an argument with you about it and said and I quote: why don't you go and create your own threads. I put the same question to you. Lets see you write something constructive and helpful instead of commenting on my posts.

Anyway, I thought you were leaving you made a big announcement last week that you were going to greener pastures. A number of people commented on you leaving and out of respect for you I kept quiet and didn't want to say how I felt about it. Since you have been disrespectful towards me I shall be candid and say: I was looking forward to seeing you leave and never return to this forum again but sadly you are still here.

Just ignore him. I did and I can honestly say my experience here has been better as a result.

Really? You're going going to take Gl0wout's side? Everything you hate about me, he's three times worse than me. You're only taking get his side for anything because he got in an argument with me. So apparently you're willing to side with someone worse than me, just because they're not me. That's pretty sad dude.

And yes I did make such an announcement. I'm still checking in every now and then, just not spending all my time here.

And cut/pasting the same links is still spamming. Main reason I have a bone to pick with you is because you attempted to get me banned when I first joined.

And I have no idea what's wrong with liking people's posts. I think it's polite to like a post if you agreed with it or think it's helpful. I used to drop funny ratings on comments I didn't like but I stopped because people started complaining about it. I don't see what's wrong with that.

@threefirefour ,
I see you are having a pop about @Michael Leigh 's articles.
I know what Michael Leigh looks like and real name and he is definitely not a parrot as he made a joke of ...lol
He puts his heart and soul in to his posts and drafted a few times till it reads right putting them across in his lovely manor as he does so well.
They are his own views and wise words and given to help others

You mean his heart and soul into that one post he pastes everywhere? I don't have problems with his articles, but it bugs me that he pastes them in these types of threads all the time. He complains that I don't post much, but at least it's not repetitive.

I'm sure he's a great guy to other people, just not to me. And yeah he started it. I would like to become neutral to him but it seems neither of us are willing to bury the hatchet.

Thank you so much for letting me know what bugs you and now I will keep doing it in the hope that it'll make you leave....

Doesn't matter, you're gonna do it anyways even if I left. This is what I mean. Neither of us are ready to stop bickering. Everytime I've tried you do something that provokes me (and probably vice versa).

And for future reference don't feel that you can't criticize me without me criticizing you first. I actually encourage that kind of thing, as evidenced by the nature of my comments.

Now guys ,
Its Halloween so time to bury the hatchet or I may have to get my spell book and broom out ..so behave now

And that statement shows you have no intention of helping people and you're just an unwanted Interloper!
...Don't really see how.

Agreed.

You are a silly little boy and very immature to boot. I have more serious matters. Goodbye...
No I'm completely serious. I said I encourage people to criticize me if they want, and you somehow think that means I just want to be an unhelpful troll. I legit wonder what your point is, assuming you have one.

And you're still here so I assume you really don't. Hope we can get along in the future. I legitimately tried.
