Hi, I first noticed a persistent high pitched ringing in my ears since I was maybe 4 years old and now it just keeps getting worse as I age. My whole life I've been sensitive to treble sounds (I like base) and can get overloaded by sounds and loud places (music is hard for me). Also have trouble hearing voices over background noise. I had always assumed this was from repeated ear infections that I had as a baby, but I really don't know.

The doctors I've seen have not helped me. Last year I tried feverfew for about a week and it did take away the ringing. Unfortunately, the ringing was replaced with a very loud and alarming thump noise. Thinking about trying it again as it might also help with my migraines.

Regards

I feel your pain, really do. tinnitus/our ears can get worst as we age. Just try to protect your ears and have some positivity. It's very easy to be negative and overprotective, these 2 elements do not help your tinnitus. I was at my martial arts class this week and they also have kids there and these kids were screaming at the top of their lungs. I had one ear plug in my bad ear and it was still so loud. It's hard living with tinnitus, but that's life. Tinnitus is not going away tomorrow....not for me anyways.

Hang in there and vent if you have to, on this site.

take care :)

It's hard finding other people who've had it from early childhood (I've had it that long too, hello!). I feel like we have a different relationship with it than someone who developed it later in life.

Unfortunately, the ringing was replaced with a very loud and alarming thump noise.

I feel for you. Is this thumping noise pulsatile in syn with our heart beat? If so, you may have pulsatile tinnitus. If so, you will get better feed back to post it in the Pulsatile Tinnitus forum. Take care. God bless.

The thought of living with this all of my life makes my skin crawl
