Cause of Tinnitus
Tramautic brain injury
Hi all. First time poster but in January 2014 I suffered a nasty TBI (10th documented concussion) that caused some brain swelling and a microscopic bleed. It totally messed up my life and had to spend a year doing multiple therapies. Doctors said I would never work again, get my balance back (still don't do good with this but its a 100x better) etc. I proved them wrong and am now back to work! It's all a long story but man the tinnitus drives me nuts.

I personally think its from the csf fluid that somehow got into my ears , since csf fluid was found leaking into both ears.

Still to this day I get it. One ear rings your typical high pitch, while the other is more static sounding. They sent me to an ear dr who said I had some hearing loss but couldn't help or explain the T.

Anyone have any ideas or tips? It's really maddening me lately and for some reason spikes when I get sick or about to have a seizure (TBI caused these ugh)

Thanks!

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
Sorry to hear this and well done getting back in to work with your recovery.
Maybe white noise generators could help or hearing aids.
My hubby and both sons have seizures but doing well on medication so hope medication will help yours too !
Sound therapy for tinnitus can help playing it below your tinnitus through out the night through pillow speakers and your brain will work hard pick up the lower sound you have chosen and push your tinnitus to the background helping your brain develop its natural filter....
Lots of love glynis

GB887- I suffered a head injury back in January. The (idiot) doctor didn't bother to check if I had suffered a concussion- nonetheless, 7 days later, I had really weird nausea, then when that passed, my new friend tinnitus entered my life, and has not left since.

My head injury was pretty mild, like a boxing wound to my forehead. T sounds like a really high pitched tone/whistle on my right side.

I don't have too too many ideas or tips, but what I have been doing is seeing a naturopath (as the doctors just want to give me pills- f*** that), who will be performing osteopathy, chiropractic work, and acupuncture. The opinions on acupuncture are subjective, however I've met more than a few people who swear by it.

The naturopath recommended I cut out booze, caffeine, dairy, and engage in yoga, and give it the ultimate remedy, time.
