Hey guys, I've had tinnitus for a little over a month now. It started a few days after I got back from a music festival. I went to an ENT about 3 weeks after the initial incident and got on Prednisone. Even though it was a little late to the game I figured might as well give it a shot.

Yesterday was the first day off the Prednisone and since then my tinnitus has been super loud. It was only ever mildish to begin with, with mild ear pain and sensitivity also, but now off the Prednisone it's loud as heck. It's only in my left ear too.

My question is, has anyone else experienced this time of spike when tapering off the Prednisone, and if so, did it go away once you gave your body a few days to recover from the Prednisone?

How long were you on Prednisone?

Based on my experience, I don't think your spike is caused by tapering off Prednisone, assuming it is tapered off correctly.

Most likely something else, such as exposure to some noise that maybe too loud for your condition at the time.

For example for me, then, if I drive more than 8 miles on the highway, then I got a temporary small spike for that night.

Even with relatively modern car, with good insulation, and only about 65 - 74 dB ambient noise on the highway, that is enough to trigger some small spike for me.
