Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with low cortisol during the afternoon and night by an integrative doctor. She prescribed hydrocortisone, in low doses due to my high sensitivity from benzo withdrawal.

I don't like the idea about using corticosteroids for months (even if it was 12.5 mg max) but I was being miserable these days with no energy and stress intolerant. I am still getting better.

Given that, to avoid the risk of my body getting used to the external cortisol and the risk of atrophying the adrenals, I decided to try 50 mg of Adrenal Cortex Extract. It's a pill from extracts of bovine organic adrenal glands. There are some brands that offer this product.

I feel better today energy-wise, but I am experiencing a tinnitus spike by the afternoon.

Does anyone know if bovine adrenal glands can boost Serotonin? Has anyone else experienced this and know if it's only temporary? I ask this because I developed tinnitus from antidepressants, and lots of things that influences Serotonin causes my tinnitus to spike.

It seems the bovine adrenal glands contain Norepinephrine and Epinephrine according to a book I read, I don't know if they also contain Serotonin. I lack the background to conclude if this supplement could boost Serotonin.

Maybe I should stick to the doctor's plan of using hydrocortisone with this alone being safe tinnitus-wise.

Experiences and thoughts on this are welcomed. I hope and pray that the spike is only temporary.

Anyway, here is my experience that might help others.
