Tinnitus Spiked Permanently Last Night, I Had Hardly Any Sleep — Now My Tinnitus Is Gone?

Genetics/possibly Jaw.
Yesterday night, I had a really tough night of my tinnitus spiking sharply in my left ear, and it was so bad that it physically made me ill. Throwing up in the toilet, diarrhea, and that feeling of when you get stabbed or some other kind of injury that's so bad that you feel it partially throughout your body and feel weak from it.

That day I slept for 8 hours previously, mowed the lawn with ear protection (which has never been a problem before), and took my Meloxicam (15 mg) later then usual. 3 hours later after taking a shower, I was standing next to the mirror, not looking at it, and my left ear went out. I sometimes lose hearing for a few seconds, including a spike in tinnitus, and then it reverts back to normal.

This time it stayed.

I started to panic a little bit and cleaned my ear out with a bulb and water, but it had no effect. From 9:30 pm to 4:47 am (at least) I was suffering from this now seemingly permanent spike in tinnitus. Couldn't sleep, couldn't think, couldn't do anything but sit on the toilet, my ass regurgitating the salmon I had earlier as if it was mixed in a cauldron of boiling water and bile, that spewed right out of my rump.

I woke up today and while my ear is sensitive to sound, my tinnitus is gone.

What is this? What's going on? I'm so tired I can't really process all of this.

The spike or all your tinnitus is gone?

Who knows man. Maybe that's what resynapsing feels like. Could also be from increased ear pressure via vomiting.
I know that feeling of pure and total fear all too well. Lost a lot of weight.

Both the spike and tinnitus was gone, it was fucking gone but replaced with pulsing that I could hear throughout my ear when I was alone with no noise, but was much better then tinnitus. I was like this all the way until the 10th when it came back later that night with the pulsing gone.

I've been stretching my neck and back more and training my back with squats more then usual around that time. I've already had a TMJ MRI to confirm that my TMJ is gone and had hearing tests which determined that I had no hearing loss. So perhaps my tinnitus is now from face/jaw/ear muscles and/or the neck/spine.

This is interesting. It's very possible that those exercises have maybe opened a blockage or increased blood flow and caused the tinnitus to slip away for a few days. I had a very weird experience last week that was very short lived but almost similar in terms of the fleeting tinnitus.

I was sitting at my office desk when all of a sudden I felt my right ear cut out. When this happens my static cuts out completely and I hear silence for a few moments before a high pitch tone comes in. The tone lasts for about 10 seconds and slowly fades as the static comes back and then I'm right back to normal shitty tinnitus. Well, last week, when it happened, I jammed my fingers in my ears and refused to let the hiss come back. I could here the tone for about 20-30 seconds but the hiss was not returning. All of a sudden the tone disappeared and I could hear nothing but silence for about 20 seconds. Then something crazy happened. I started to hear a very faint clicking sound, I can't really explain it but it was like a Geiger counter you hear in movies when they are searching for radiation. It was very faint and I still had my fingers plugging my ears. It wasn't bothersome at all and much more welcoming than my regular hiss. I sat there for about 3 minutes plugging my ears in disbelief thinking about how I possibly cured my tinnitus, how I possibly cured any tinnitus. Was it this simple? Is it possible no one ever tried this? I was elated and was starting to get anxious because I couldn't believe it. But of course, all good things come to an end and after a few minutes, slowly the hiss came back and the clicking was gone.

I haven't had a fleeting episode since so I haven't tried it again, but if I do, I will try it again. I can't explain the experience but it felt like my brain was try to find the sound and couldn't so started to reset itself. I don't know why the clicking started but it was ever so faint and not bothersome. Surely I wouldn't have been able to hear it day to day as I was only hearing it with my fingers jammed in my ears. This is what I've been imagining a psychedelic trip would feel like; resetting the brain to find a new pathway for sound.
