University of Minnesota Tinnitus Research with Acoustic and Body Stimulation

I'm sure it's been discussed but with multi tonal tinnitus, do you think they will just target one sound at first? Is yours multi tonal?
My tinnitus started as a faint hiss long ago. The hiss became louder. Then a loud blast by accident caused intrusive tinnitus. In my left ear is a very high pitched sound, (side most exposed to the blast) it is not a fuzzy hiss (shhhh/eeeee) but a distinct sharp whistle.

The first years after the trauma there were weird effects to the sounds like reverb and rattling. Overtime it seems the sounds homogenize into a uniform sound without effects. Mostly the loud hiss and the distinct high pitch whistle above it. (a little midget pied piper sitting on my ear blowing his little whistling horn... forever) He has a name... (it's to vulgar to mention)

The hissing can be related to sounds in nature like water or the ocean (haha). This whistle is satanic.

Many months ago a few of us were going to build our own. However, it caught the attention of Susan Shore/her team and concerned them to be posting about it on a public forum. Apparently it can potentially make the tinnitus much, much worse. Our project died a long time ago.

Building the device is not hard, but the timing is everything.
All she has to do is publish the timing info but then she wont be able to sell it and make money.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

If I found a remedy for shitnitus I would share it with everyone for free.

re."Apparently it can potentially make the T much, much worse."

The liability issues are staggering.
Effects are temporary at the moment. I signed up knowing it could happen. And yes one of the timings did, but they know.

Yes, and you are telling the truth.

But tinnitus is subjective, an hallucination only heard and detected by the patient.

What will stop someone from suing the corporate entity the device would be owned by?

Seem like we have the same issue fellow sufferer.
Lately, I´ve found something on youtube, in the neuro modulation vally, that really is helping me as we speak.
I had given up this "Residual Inhibition Effect" a long time ago, even though it seemed to give me relief the first year or so.
Try listen to this for like an hour directly from your computer or using headphones.
Please tell me if it works for you as well!

Never mind the "Cure" bit in the name. It´s NOT a cure, but it certainly can give you relief while listening and for some time after.

It´s really strange. Some how, I believe, this must also have some inhibitory effect of the activity in the DCN.

They could just have you sign an agreement freeing them from liability before any treatment. If you don't sign, no treatment.

Fellow sufferer, brother I will give this a look for sure. I am aware of residual inhibition, recently I posted a reply to a girl who said her T would briefly go away after swimming. I told her to check out RI to see if it matched her experience.

I experimented with RI years ago. I'll checkout your link, hopefully it has made testing with RI easier to get longer effect time.

Thanks for the link!

It caught the attention of shore? That's wild. I know the timings can make it worse because these last two weeks have been very loud. I had a session yesterday. And well my T is as low as it has been in recent memory. They will no longer tell me the timings, but I just finished session 10 and 13, 14, 15, and 16 are the actual trial. But whatever they did yesterday... please take my money. A fan on low plus the crickets (real!!!!) masked my T last night. But I didn't even need to mask it. Oh what a pleasant day this will be:)
Good news, just read the posts where people have been saying you are leaving, please don't ... we need updates on the trials you have been listed for ... :)

So you wore the device for 30 mins and it masked your tinnitus while wearing it and when you took the device off, tinnitus was at an all-time low?

Sorry, if I'm asking a question that has already been answered, but....

Does this treatment involve electrical current/frequency placed on/near the ear? What exactly do they do?

I ask as my chiro. wants to try auriculotherapy in treating my H. He would use a version of this... https://bodyclock.net/stimplus-pro-unit/ ...to simulate neural pathways/point in the ear alone.

As I understand the subject of this thread can make T worse I certainly would rethink going about treatment. I've also had a very bad experience with electro acupuncture (electric leads connected to needle placed in neck just below ear) thus making me highly cautious regarding any treatment utilizing electrical stimulation.

Thanks!

Anybody care to venture a guess as to how long it would take for this to come to market?

As I count it there are 3 devices on the horizon that use sound coupled with electrical input. Neuromod device, Susan Shore`s device and this one. Hopefully the extra competition will speed things up and the time to market will go down.

People have said early to mid 2020.
