Very Severe Tinnitus

How do you know?
First we don't have any study proving any link with MSG and hearing or T

Secondly I have been living in east Asia for the last 25 years where MSG very much used in cooking such as China and Japan, and T is pretty much unknown over here and people get live very old and have decent hearing for the most

The Eastern world is so so ahead of us health wise and mind wise. I try to adopt their way of thinking, kindness and Zenfullness.....

Haha no. Take this from an actual easterner. In health I think the only real leg up we have over the west is the fact we know tinnitus is really bad. Some of our myths talk about how awful it is. In that sense, I think the west can learn from that.

My mother has severe hearing loss and no T.
Sometimes, I just feel that is NOT FAIR !
While suffering and isolated from society,
I really envy my mom and others who do not have T.

I would rather be deaf on left ear than have T. My T is very loud and intrusive. My audiologist calls me a severe case (even though the docs made me a severe case). When I had Mild T the docs were obsessed with me doing all of these tests as they thought I had thyroid cancer, brain cancer, blood cancer, aids, Meniere, etc. When it got worse they told me good luck and try TRT :) :) ahhh doctors :) :)

Yes. It showed 35db hearing loss or something like that. Not alot. I'm getting a new one done in a month.

Go get an extended audiogram and see if you have hearing loss between 8khz and 12khz. Many audiograms only test up to 8khz. You described a dog whistle sound so it sounds like it is higher than 8khz. If you have loss between those frequencies, the good news is you can get it corrected with an extended bandwidth hearing aid such as the Signia 7nx. There may be others but you will have to ask a very knowledgeable hearing aid specialist. If losses can be corrected, perhaps the tinnitus will not be noticeable or it will be less than it is now because of ambient noise being amplified. Of course I would not recommend going to clubs with your hearing aids in.

Right now I am dealing with a swollen preacurial lymph node near my right ear ( in front of right ear).

@dpdx, a few years ago a dentist nicked some kind of nerve when injecting novacaine. It sent a shudder through my head, leaving me with a chronically swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck (very noticeable), and a left eye that's very vulnerable to stress and overexertion.

A couple years ago I began applying DMSO on my lower back and neck to reduce pain (worked). Interestingly, after I applied it to that swollen lymph node (of many years), it reduced in size by half within hours. The next day, after the next application, it reduced by half again. No more improvements after that, but 75% reduction was unexpected and appreciated.

DMSO is SO good at reducing inflammation, I often think it could be helpful for a good number of people on this forum where inflammation is at least a contributing factor. -- Best!

My lymph node appeared after I fell on my jaw/head back in November. But then again I didn't notice it until like March/April.

No, doesn't hurt at all. But I started going to a physical therapist this past week to see if working on various structural issues will help my tinnitus. The PT did notice it and asked me about it. I'm so glad the DMSO shrunk it 1/4 of it earlier size!

You know whats crazy. July 28.2017 I was a healthy 27 year old, now I am 28 and dealing with Severe T, Severe H, Lymph node swollen, Visual Snow, Dark Eye Floaters, High Blood Pressure.

This might be due to the lack of research funding...

Interesting!

Very interesting...
I know in our case, some tellings of the chinese creation myth say that Pangu got tinnitus because the early universe was so loud, and it made him irritable.

And in Japanese mythology, the way you can tell a Gashadokuro is chasing you is if you have a ringing in your ears. In both cases, we don't pretend it's not a bad thing. Not to mention the countless folk remedies for tinnitus.

Hi @threefirefour,

Do you know whether they consider it awful because of some kind of entity involvement, or something similar to that? It does feel pretty demonic after all. I suspect that viewpoint is shared by many on this forum.

Here's how I think some in our western culture view tinnitus...

Well there's no way to tell for sure, but in most cultures, demonic involvement is assigned to bad concepts, like plague or pestilence. Maybe the Japanese feared tinnitus because they thought a giant skellyboi would bite their heads off and drink their spraying blood, but the fact they assigned tinnitus to an evil kami shows that they didn't like tinnitus to begin with. Smart people.

T is something truly from hell.

I have cancelled the rest of my planned parties and festivals. Although I'm still going on the vacation to spain which will be the ultimate test for my tinnitus. Aftef that I will take time to rest my ears as adviced by most people here. Let's hope it will make a difference...
