The tools they have today to create a viable treatment simply didn't exist 5 years ago. In addition to the pure capital investors (in it for the money), the U.S. government is a big provider of funds for this research. The reason is the very large number of soldiers that acquire T due to gun fire noise. The "cure" won't be out tomorrow, but there is literally a race going on within the pharmaceutical industry to find one and with the government push and market need funding is not an issue.
