Tinnitus Since
02/2016
Hey guys,

Since my onset I've been having floaters.

And now a certain sensitivity to light.

A few weeks ago I went to an Apple Store and it was so white it kinda bothered me.
So many floaters.

Yesterday I woke up in the middle of the night and there was some sorta colorful pattern of floaters... idk but even closing my eyes I could see them.

I had to turn on a lamp and it settled.

Just wondering if someone has had a similar experience?

My doctor thinks my problems comes from endolymphatic nature.
So... problems with vision comes with it I guess.

There must be a connection. It's reported far too often here.

I think tinnitus emerges due to ear problems and/or brain problems.
Mostly both is involved but it can also be exclusively ears or brain.
IMHO this is the only explanation to all controversial studies.

Anyway. Sorry to hear.
I can just say, that I know them only by staring into blue sky. Since floaters are regularly mentioned here I was very sensitive if my perception of them changed since tinnitus. This is definetly not the case.

Floaters, tinnitus, Trobalt, there is definetly some connection and maybe this will be first tinnitus to be able to treat, due to this connection.

I've got the same. I have visual snow, floaters and sometimes i notice my vision falters. Im very sure it had something to do with tinnitus

I have always had floaters for as long as I can remember. They did bother me but since I now have tinnitus they don't matter at all.

Oh my gosh yes. I didn't notice anything unusual after the initial onset of my T but ever since my hearing damage got worse recently I have had loaaads of really thick dense visual snow at night.

early on when I got T the DR. put me on nortrypiline and had a visual problem when a floater became green yellow in color which lasted a few seconds and disapated. I thought it was an occular migraine but discontinued the drug and never had it again.. Very weird and a little scary......
I have had floaters as long as I can remember and T really hasnt increased them. Floaters are small particles that break away from your retina and get amplified when they float past your pupil and retina. Most people have them. I think your senses get heighten when you have T and your perception of things increase.

Yes my visual snow is awful i can see it all day but very mild during the day, at night its very present,
it doesnt bother me that much.
but it kind scared me last night, specially cause i had of visual hallucination when closing my eyes.

i got a bit scared cause i know its some how a form of optical neuritis and also could be and early sign of MS,
and with the tinnitus and some body pain, im very anxious.

but to be honest tinnitus alone can produce visual snow.
i dont know why though.

Strange! I've always had some floaters (small ones) but i've also noticed worse floater over the last year - I even went to the eye doctor cause I was a bit concerned (nothing wrong with my eyes). It's worse in bright daylight or if looking at bright computer screen in the dark. It's more like hazy "flashes" that happen when I move my eyeballs, and then go away. But like T, it's worse sometimes than others. With the floaters wearing sunglasses helps. I'm just happy that my T is at a tolerable level now (and/or I've just gotten used to it).

I've always had floaters for as long as I can remember. I thought everybody did? If not, oh well, I could care less about them. When I was in my late teens I had something called HPPD from experimenting with psychedelic drugs. That was so freaking weird and it took a long time to go away... like a couple years. I was so used to it before I noticed I didn't have it anymore. Hugs not drugs.

@lvts , if you're certain they're getting worse day by day, go see an eye doctor asap. Sudden increase of floaters, especially if they're black spots can be a sign of a torn retina and that's not something to let go and needs to be fixed asap.

I've always had some floaters, but very very light mild ones, past year since onset of tinnitus they are getting worse and worse, more and more. it's not that I've just started noticing I know this for sure as I've always been sensitive to noticing any slight symptom of any kind my whole life. I'm convinced there's a connection and since I have perfect hearing and my T onset was without connection to anything typical I believe it's a brain issue not an ear issue for me.

have you experience
white flashes at night!
when closing your eyes?

I have always had two or three floaters since like.. always? Never shows until it is really super bright. Now I saw one,
I also have had aura migraine, first time when I was 12. I lose partial vision for 30-40 min with headache. Get those migraines 3-4 times a year.

Floaters are very common. Tinnitus is very common. There is certain to be an overlap between the two groups. Doesn't mean they are causally associated.
That said the brain often screens out floaters over time. I have experienced this phenomenon. When we are reminded about them they can often back. It could be the same with some tinnitus.

@Mario martz i know this is an old post but yes I do get flashes of white light when I'm waking up sometimes and the followed by a brain zap.

Today was my first severe loss in vision due to black floaters. It's not like I could look past them I couldn't see anything.

Since this post is 2 years old can I ask how you're doing now?

Hey Layla,
I'm still dealing with floters, flashes at night, black spots, etc...

It sometimes goes away (everything but the visual snow and floaters) but eventually comes back.

you know i have read a lot on this subject.
but i dont have like a real answer.

there is a connection between tinnitus and visual snow syndrome.
in my case i guess it's because of my "fibromyalgia" but it can be many many things... like for example:

https://www.webmd.com/migraines-headaches/what-is-a-migraine-with-aura

from what i heard, visual snow can be a pain in the ass but it won't cause you real damage or kill you.

i have gone with the best doctors and all of them thought that i was crazy
because my vision is "perfect" lol
