The US is benefiting from Ukraine war more than Russia. And it is ironic that the US can claim this is a war centered around oil... when the US started the Irak war on false pretences just to steal their oil.

I agree with much of that article. But it changes nothing - Russia still should be brought to order and defeated. Ukraine should not be allowed to lose simply because the west are hypocrites and stoked the conditions where war was more likely. We will need to do penance for previous sins - eat humble pie etc - but above all - make sure Russia is defeated.

I too read the entire article, and agree that U.S. leadership has made a good number of despicable choices over the past several decades; from inflicting mass war crimes against Vietnam, to invading Iraq under false pretenses, not to mention the economic warfare the U.S. has waged against countless countries for many decades.
But how this leads someone to believe the U.S. is somehow benefiting from Russia invading Ukraine is quite beyond me (the BBC article doesn't even comment on that). What baffles me even more is when I see an occasional nod to "understanding Putin", and a seeming inclination to give him a free pass on his responsibility for killing thousands of Ukrainians. It's most perplexing, to say the least.

We need to do something about Iran. They are planning to send destructive missiles and more kamikaze drones (already being used) which could be a problem for Ukraine.

If Iran get involved helping Russia, they will have a very serious price to pay. Sadly the size and might of China is such that not much can be done however much they support the attack on Ukraine - but the USA should have the means to warn off Iran from stupid actions.
I was listening to a Belorussian dissident talking about whether his nation will join Russia - he seemed to believe this will not happen. Maybe wishful thinking. Personally I never thought Russians would bomb people who they are related to - as many Russians have Ukrainian relations. I was WRONG. If I was wrong about that - then it is not too far fetched to believe Belorussians who also have ties with Ukraine will do the same.

Bingo, bingo, bingo!!! Unfortunately, I have my doubts Biden is willing to do that. I just don't think this administration has shown nearly as much flexibility and assertiveness this situation calls for, in many different ways.
Lukashenko (autocratic leader of Belarus) should be given the sternest and credible warnings, from both NATO and the U.S., that any direct involvement in the Ukraine war invites major military retaliation. This should apply to indirect involvement as well.
When is the West going to quit pussyfooting around and quit accepting these atrocities? I heard 30% of Ukraines power plants have been destroyed by kamakaze drones. Why not supply Ukraine with similar types of drones so they can take out 30% of Russia's power stations? Or at least threaten to supply them. Think that might make Putin think twice?

This war is different from other wars as one of the lads has not one nuclear weapon, he's got more than Joe Biden has.
So the strategy up till this is to do all possible without allowing "the pot to boil over". With the destruction of the Ukrainian power and electricity infrastructure by Iranian supplied drones, things are looking very serious.
It seems impossible for Ukraine to defeat Russia, without military help. They are greatly outnumbered and it is suicidal to keep fighting. I think that the only solution at this point unless they are willing to accept massive death and destruction, is surrender.
So far with Russia in retreat (Izyum, Kherson, etc) looks the other way around. Greatly outnumbered??? Ukrainian troops outnumber Russians 10:1. What are you smoking bro?

Here's a snapshot from Ukraine. Be sure to read the last paragraph. It doesn't take a genius to realize the Russians will never win the war, or conquer Ukraine. Ukrainians have everything to fight for. The Russian soldiers, just seem to want to get the hell out of there.

Putin can't mobilize every single able bodied man in Russia. This isn't World War 2, he isn't Stalin, he has to answer to Oligarchs and public opinion. Ordinary Russians won't go to die for Putin's foreign ambitions. Also this is still classified as a "Special Operation". So unless Putin declares all out war with full mobilization, Russia has no chance in hell with its newly mobilized 300,000 poorly equipped bums against a well trained NATO sponsored army... NO CHANCE.
DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH. If he could have, he would have done it by now, but if by some madman's whim he does call a general mobilization...
...I'm dying to see all the Russian mama's boys/Richie Riches, video gamers/social media warriors, milk sops, alcoholic wife beaters, drug addicts, etc be sent to get turned into ground meat at the front lines. He has already started with clearing out maximum security prisons as cannon fodder. The population will react differently when their children come back in coffins or simply never be heard from again.
I'm only worried about one thing. Zelensky will attack Crimea and when the Russians turn their tail and run, Putin might get green light for a strategic nuclear weapon launch. If shit gets out of hand, tinnitus will be the least of our problems.

This never would have happened in the first place, if Biden had not been made President. It's a goddamn shame that anybody was foolish enough to support him.
Russia is counting on the United States to abandon Ukraine one day just like it did in Afghanistan. That's the only scenario in which I can see a Russian victory in Ukraine. Putin is in this for the long haul, his words "We are in no rush anywhere"... Zelensky knows this and he is trying to win this war as soon as possible, at any cost, even if it means dragging NATO into direct conflict with Russia (as he demonstrated when he accused Russia of sending rockets into Poland).
At the end of the day, the US is benefiting from this war, selling weapons, and passing on the cost to the US taxpayers, and also selling Europe expensive oil and gas.
Europe will be the big loser in this situation.
Oil producing countries are also profiteering, especially Saudi Arabia.

I hear Russia's weapons arsenal is so depleted to the point where they are now detaching nuclear warheads off of old cruise missiles, to be used for land attack purposes. Nuts if true. No wonder the North Koreans and Iranians have been supplying them.
The size of armed forces does not in any way correlate to effectiveness of armed forces. Russia also don't provide adequate training or equipment to most of their new enlistments. This is modern warfare.
Exactly, a few thousand Spanish knights destroyed millions of Aztecs.
Reason? Knights had hardened steel armour vs. Aztec bronze armor. Quality always wins over quantity.

You're wrong. If Putin decides to mobilize, he won't only face Ukraine but all of those NATO countries that will stop Russia in its tracks.
Ukraine is not member of NATO, and probably will not be anytime soon. I think that most people would agree that we should not shed any blood for that country.

America will not allow that to happen. Russia has accepted the principle of NATO supplying weapons to Ukraine but supplying actual troops is a red line. Things could become very unpredictable.
I do believe Russia will scale back its involvement eventually but go on causing problems in the region for years to come.
