Wearing Earplugs Under My Headset Okay?

I currently work at a call centre where I have a head set over one of my ears.

Since my tinnitus I've been wearing earplugs underneath the head sets to minimise the potential damage it can cause.

My question is, are there any adverse effects in doing so?

I'm quite sure there isn't, but just in case I missed something... thoughts?

Unfortunately, one can easily hear human voices even if one wears Peltor earmuffs and earplugs together.

Throughout my life (long before the onset of T) I have always despised having to hear unwanted sounds.

My audiogram is a perfect line up to 12 000Hz, yet I have significant problems with understanding speech when any kind of background noise is present.

I'm alway happy to hear things. Even if they're somewhat unpleasant - I'm always gratefull my ears still work (more or less).

Do you have misophonia? Many people have sounds they do not care for (fingernails on a chalkboard, loud chewing, etc), but some have dislikes beyond that.

Incidentially, I once mentioned nails on a chalkboard at school and the students looked at me like I was crazy. Our school has smart boards, so they'll never know the irritation of that sound!

I keep getting a score "99% neurotic" whenever I fill out tests about this sort of thing.

I have done some of these as part of workshops through a past employer. I cannot remember where I ranked. Wonder if it changes as we age, probably would given that we experience new things.

@danielh Hello Daniel, did you find any news on that subject, turns out a lot of people's give that advice to use earplugs under for protection but no where in the forum or website, I can find good sources of Information.
