@glynis is a long-term contributor and supporter of those with tinnitus, a member here since 2015. Glynis is also a part of our advocacy efforts, having come up with many good ideas and is always up for raising awareness of tinnitus. She helps run a local tinnitus support group in her area.

Her positive energy is palpable and we're very happy to now also have her moderate the forum here.

Recently we've had quite an uptick of negativity, fights and bickering, which is just something that we're aiming to put as much of a stop to as possible. Glynis is very understanding, accommodating and friendly, but also strict where strictness is called for and will be doing her best to keep the forum a friendly and supportive place.

She is the first of our recent additions to the moderator team as we're looking to expand the team further.

Kindly,
Staff

Thank you Tinnitus Talk for your lovely welcome to being a Manager/Moderator on this lovely forum and so proud to be on board with your team.
I enjoy moderating Tinnitus Hub and I respect everyone's views and I see things from all sides.
I am fair and understanding but will act on problems and members out to cause trouble as they will be letting the forum down and themselves as a member.
Love glynis x

That's awesome. Glynis is a great member in the forum. Usually I can't stand overly positive users but even I like glynis. Hope she's a good mod.

Meme I made a month ago to prove my point:

Thanks for giving time to this board. I am rather new to posting here and can appreciate the hard work it requires.
It is important to respect all personal sides or approaches or opinions.

Yey! @glynis was one of the first persons who helped me when I reached out on this board.

Congrats!

Congratulations Glynis, your always the calm in the storm haha

Glynis is a massive asset not only to this forum but also the BTA one. Us over logical types sometimes lack the compassion which is so much needed by those who first come on here in a panic.

Just one suggestion to all moderators, please don't moderate people just because you disagree with a point of view. There is a reason why it's called a forum! We only learn and move on by taking on board different views to what we currently have.

Good luck Glynis! :)

@Bassplayer,
I left the BTA forum a very long time ago now and not a member of HealthUnlocked.
I am with TT and TH 100%.
The BTA are on my twitter and like the contact we had during Tinnitus Week.

We respect peoples own views and equally important but will step in when discussions turn nasty.

I remember when I was not posting here but just reading and you were/are always so kind to everyone.
I try to explain the um..disagreements on the forum to my husband who cannot understand why and thinks we are all nuts. : )

Oh I thought of this on my morning run:

There is a new sheriff in town!!! : )

Well said @Bassplayer

Whilst I don't approve of the use of bad language and inappropriate behaviour. I do understand the immense distress tinnitus can put one under. Some people out of pure frustration and unable to get help with their tinnitus for various reasons, feel there is no hope and thus, under these conditions succumb to the lower forms of themselves.

Well I try not to sodding well swear... ;-)

Well I try not to sodding well swear... ;-)

Some people use profanity as part of their everyday vocabulary and I consider this inappropriate in a forum. My parents are dead and gone and I never once used bad language in their presence. If there were more discipline, respect and morals in this world it would be a much better place.

@Bassplayer what does "sodding" mean?

It's an English thing but, like most rude words, they come from something perceived as naughty by certain people...try Googling it...

Actually the F word is fascinating. I actually heard it 3 times in one sentence once from an ex- submariner when a piece of equipment failed. "The F'n, F'er' is F'd".

:-/

Good for you Michael, however I was a milkman for a few months once. The effect of getting up at 4.30am every morning had it's effect!

Anyway, did I swear anywhere?

It doesn't matter what occupation one does it is no excuse to debase oneself in my opinion. I worked as a carpenter and joiner and worked alongside many guys that used profanity. Building trade language they called it. A manager said to me one day: " Michael, if we had a swear box I guarantee you'd be the only person that wouldn't have to put money in it". He went on to ask why don't I swear? I simply said I wasn't raised like that.

Michael

PS: You didn't swear.....
