Unknown, Satan perhaps?
I see many people say their tinnitus fades into a hiss.

Can someone explain what this hiss sounds like or provide an audio sample? Thank you.

@ughbree thank you the first one is kinda what I hear but louder. The second one sounded like an old tv on the static channel, I imagined the hiss a lot softer and pleasant

There are many types of hisses (one of them being a soft hiss). A hiss is often similar to the sound you might hear when air is being let out of tires...

Mine has always been a soft hiss, sometimes i think it has got even softer lately, either that or my mental state has improved and i am not so bothered by it and can "forget" about it easier these last few months.

Mine is like an electrical hissing, buzzing sound, sometimes it's ultra high pitched sometimes lower, when it's lower it's kinda bearable.

My hiss sound was more of a sensation. It felt like noise forced out of my ear from a teeny tiny hole.

Kind of like the air/tire thing.

If it fades enough, it can sound like a snake hiss, as @Tinniger mentioned.

Here's an example from soundsnap.com, a pit of snakes. Of course, it can be louder and the pitch can be much higher, which makes it far more annoying.

Interesting. No hiss sound like Cheza's link. It is like that sound but for me always with the sensation of hummm...hard to describe. But I "felt" it.
