Does anyone get this situation?

Today, Sunday morning, I woke up with my tinnitus the quietest it's been yet. When I woke up the room was quiet and I turned down my sound machine because it didn't need to be so loud to cover my tinnitus. At some point during the night I turned my sound machine off because it was so loud it was annoying. (I admit it was on ocean and not rain and the up and down volume of the waves can get to me).

Now, probably 4-5 hours later my tinnitus is louder again and my ears have that fullness feeling. The kids have woken up and made some yelling noises which probably spiked my sensitivity to noise and I took a walk by our busy road with traffic noise.

I guess it's a good sign I was calm enough to have my tinnitus go down. It was as peacefully a morning as I've had in the last month.

Is this part of the fun? This variable tinnitus? I want to take it as a good sign that things got quieter but have to acknowledge that they got louder again too.

I can say I have experienced a similar effect and I'm on day 6 of having this condition.

I've noticed that my t is relatively tolerable compared to some sufferers..and even though the ringing is non stop...it fluctuates. It was at its worst early this morning I couldn't sleep but throughout the day it subsides even as if its non existent but only for about 20 seconds.

I have not seen a specialist yet but I have that fullness youre talking about in my right ear...the ear that rings...but I'm starting to feel the same fullness in my left ear that doesn't ring.

Don't feel alone. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

On my case it seem like my T go from Cricket to old tube tv and vice versa, maybe at time I can hear both, cannot really say if it get louder or lower thought, its complete chaos in my head! Maybe its not a good idea to describe it, now I can hear it more, but ear fullness is getting rarer, so guess I'm a little bless :x

If you were talking to me, cannot really tell, guess its coming from my head itself or different tone for my two ears, with some mild ear pain at time cause by some frequency and loud noise , trying to be positive thought and trying to tell to my damn brain to not be afraid of the sounds anymore , easier said then done thought

I turned down my sound machine because it didn't need to be so loud to cover my T

Tinnitus fluctuates a lot especially in the first 6 months of onset. It is important not to try and cover up your tinnitus using a sound machine or any other sound source, so that it can't be heard. The volume of the sound machine should be kept slightly below the tinnitus. Please click on the links below and read my posts.

I have it in both ears. More on the right than the left but that can vary. Since Sunday, two days ago, things have gotten more interesting. Intensity kicked up a bit, more random noises in my left ear and the fullness/uncomfortable in my left ear which used to be my right ear.

I'm officially 1 month in and pray soon I hit the things seem to be getting better phase. It has to get darkest before the light.

I visited an ENT/Audiologist today and got the full range of tests today for a second opinion. I suspect my ears are rebelling against that now. I'm done with doctors for a while. I had a better feeling about my second visit but they just don't seem to understand T which makes no sense to me

McName, thank you for sending the thoughts and prayers. I don't have the answers but if you ever need to talk I'm here for you too.

Michael,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's good to know someone with your experience is willing to help.

Mine did not fluctuate at all in the first 6 months. But after almost 2 years can be very variable everyday in volume, frequencies and tone(s), non pulsatile and pulsatile, reactive and non reactive and different or same between ears.

I can have bad tinnitus at night only to wake up with super low tinnitus that isn't reactive, or sleep with no noticeable tinnitus and wake up with a spike and very reactive tinnitus. And other combinations within that.

Me too... why is this?
