Hello, on March 3rd 2016 my life changed. I had an accident at work and was exposed to an extremely loud noise without hearing protection. My ear instantly went plugged and I knew something had been damaged.
Hoping it would heal itself I did not see a doctor right away. My ear stayed plugged, hurt, and voices sounded weird in my one ear. After wondering if ears would heal themselves I started looking stuff up online and came across a symptom called tinnitus. I started to notice a ringing in the ear that had been affected.
I saw a few doctors and they basically said there was nothing that could be done. Had my hearing tested and I still had normal hearing but something definitely has always felt off. The pressure and pain has eased off and the ringing has always been there.
I have good and bad days. Sometimes my ear still hurts and pressure still builds up. Some days the ringing is louder then others.
Now for what I have learned about having tinnitus...
I feel I got tinnitus because I didn't appreciate what I have. Everyone takes everything for granted. Before t I was just always looking onto the next thing. Next job at work what I was doing the next day. What I have learned is life can change in a second. Mine did. You have to live in the moment and appreciate what you have left.
Am I scared my tinnitus is going to get worse?... absolutely but I can't control the future I can only control right now. Try and protect myself and not let it happen again. I just take life day by day hour by hour minute by minute now.
Do I still hear my tinnitus ringing in the background? Absolutely but I can't control it and I am trying to not let it control me.
All I can control is to try and enjoy every little moment cause you never know what the future holds. Thanks.
