what else ya got?

This isn't a kung fu movie where you take down an army of karate men expecting more

Science isn't done like that.

The explanation you give of the Universe being created in 6 days, paradise ruined by a talking legless lizard and a woman eat a fruit and ruin it, bronze age war deity causes a lot of trouble such as a global flood, ancient wars which were filled with innocent deaths, rapes and violation of property rights. Superstitious things like animal sacrifice no different then any other religion in ancient middle east. Then Yahweh has a son (a liberal revolutionary) that has to sacrifice himself to save us from himself. fast forward you got a bunch of ancient text then the council of nicaea chooses which stories are canon and they introduce the concept of the Holy trinity that is not even mentioned in the bible.

I admit that was a rant but I use to believe what you believe and I no longer do and ever will.

A bit complicated... baptized as an Eastern Orthodox, visiting Orthodox Churches, but taking eucharist from an Eastern Catholic church... During my life I have been also an atheist and a pagan and still have a soft spot for Apollo, so I do try not to be judging of anyone.

I am an agnostic bordering on atheism.
Nobody knows whether any god/creator exists.

I can not accept, much less worship, any god who remains totally uncontactable.

Why believe in anything supernatural, when knowing of the existence of any such being is an impossibility.

So why do we have Tinnitus if they are so well designed/evolved? :sneaky:

Because we didn't evolve in environments with lots of loud noises like we have now (headphones, concerts, machinery, explosions, etc. Also worth mentioning the plethora of new drugs that can cause T). These problems are extremely new in our history, and haven't had much time to act on the design on the average persons hearing through reducing reproductive fitness in people with the most susceptible ears.

Our ears evolved perfectly fine for the environments that we have historically inhabited

Yes, I see your point. However I understand that even ancient Egyptians suffered from Tinnitus, long before headphones and machinery existed. But perhaps this is still not that long ago when talking about evolution? I am not sure.

I would assume that those were the result of something like ear infections, constant tool use or some other obvious factor that is easily overlooked. Whatever it was, I would be willing to bet the prevalence of tinnitus in ancient Egypt was nothing compared to what it is now

But perhaps this is still not that long ago when talking about evolution?

In terms of human evolution, a few thousand years is absolutely nothing for an affliction that isn't lethal. On top of that, I wouldn't imagine that it would have been easy to weed tinnitus out of the genepool in ancient times when people were regularly having children in their teens. Similar to heart disease, it's a problem that probably survived because by the time it appeared in an individual, they had already passed on their heart disease/tinnitus prone genes

So having Tinnitus makes us less desirable as a mate...lol?

Indirectly it would, because it's going to make you far more miserable than you would be if you were T free. With misery comes issues that will make you less likeable to others and lower your chances in the mating game

-suicide/suicidal tendencies (hell, there's plenty of that on this forum alone)
-being depressive and less approachable
-spending more time indoors and away from other people
-being highly irritable

you get the idea

Yes. In my country, a doctor who claims to cure T with 80% success rate says that he has no patients from villages or small towns. Only from big cities. I don't believe some of his claims, but this one - yes. Psychiatrists told me the same about insomnia and to a lesser degree anxiety. Modern life is way too stressful, way too full with machines, etc.

How small are you talking? I live in a town of about 13,000 people. What does the Dr use to cure T?
He is doctor usually for celebrities. He claimed that about T in an interview. Bulgaria is not a huge country, but 13 000 is small... As for his meds, I am not sure what he uses, combination of meds prepared individually, he says.

Sure it is, but we're very sure that evolved.

How does a blob of cells originating from random chemical reactions develop random mutations for light sensitivity to hunt for food/look for mates and avoid danger happen by random chance? How does a blob of cells make sense of what an eye even is to process the external world?

It would make more sense to assume DNA is software that already has programming that allows sensory perception to evolve. That would also explain convergent evolution.

These animals are COMPLETELY UNRELATED, Yet Evolution keeps picking similar options instead of random.

DNA is like software inside a cell and it picks SIMILAR OPTIONS as opposed to complete random chance.

Agnostic/Atheist. I know I'm the oldest member of Tinnitus Talk, and through this life of time I've seen more and more that has always led to god, what god, the guy's off hiding somewhere. No god hiding or caring for "his/her" people would let them self destruct. The bible uhhhh, that's a book of fiction written after the so called god did his thing.

Religion was invented by a con man who found the first fool.

We were to believe that through religion we would all be saved, well my fuckin tinnitus is up the wall ringing. I don't pray nor will I. I have asked 3 different doctors to help. One said "pray" it goes away by itself. Yeah that's like asking the weather if it's going to snow in July.
Can't you see we are on the eve of destruction, ask your god why see when that's answered.
