Cause of Tinnitus
laying down in bed, noticed and focused on it
Soon I will be going to an ENT to have my ears looked at. What are some of the things I should know about or precautions I should take? i read somewhere that certain things they can do could make tinnitus worse? Was that a dream? I don't know, anxiety has taken over my brain!

Summary of my situation. I remember having ringing when I was little but only in very quiet rooms and after I was out of the room it wouldn't bother me, I wouldn't notice it, I would forget. When I was younger I actually thought it was cool. I would make it louder ON PURPOSE for fun but it would go away after I stopped trying... kind of ironic now right?

In the beginning on March 2018 I began noticing it and it drove me into a mental break down in a sense that i couldn't sleep, had really bad anxiety, cried all day, I felt out of my mind, going crazy, and wouldn't try to sleep unless I was beside my mother (momma's boy) I couldn't focus on anything, even TV shows I was just in a very bad spot. very scary time of my life.. eventually I got out of the loop, began doing things again, was able to sleep.. this was last week, but in the past day it has returned, not as bad but I've only slept 3 hours tonight.

I started taking quicksilver CBD Oil 4 pumps 3 times a day. This might be what helped me. I ran out a while ago and because of the price tag I slowed down on how much I took. ($100 per 25 pumps) this might support why I'm having problems again. My FM doc explains that it works overtime, the direct effect isn't supposed to be strong. So this makes sense.

Something I find interesting is that I'll have 10 second windows where the volume of the ringing will increase in one of my ears. It's usually only one at a time, left or right, choose your ear. This has happened off and on, random days for 3 months prior before it was really an issue. I could handle 10 seconds of it on random days. But now it's like constant. I don't know how to measure how loud it is. But i don't really want to. I try not the focus on it. I still have fear of it.

Also I feel physical pain on my ear randomly through out the day, sometimes ears feel clogged.

Other notes: I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos. I follow a plantbased diet with vegetables, fruit, nuts, and meats (mostly vegetables.) I do not consume Gluten, Grains, Soy or Dairy. I also stay away from products that use these ingredients. My diet has helped with inflammation in the rest of my body.

When you say "constant", do you mean it happens several times each day, or is it several times each hour? If it is the latter, it is "fleeting tinnitus."
It is completely normal - most T sufferers have it. Nobody knows what it is, so I like to think of it as my body trying to recalibrate and to get rid of tinnitus. Most likely it is harmless.

Is this hemp oil?

Don't expect much from your visit.

Check out the thread below where I summarize everything (27 tips) I learned about managing tinnitus after reading the posts on this forum for the past year.

there's a ringing that's in the background at all times, i feel like my focus determines how loud it is. however at random times during the day it will hear it get louder for 10ish seconds without me focusing on it for a short amount of time. sometimes it's in my left ear sometimes it's in my right. this has happened for over 3 months without the constant ringing bothering me

before this month: random 10 second tinnitus rings
after this month: random 10 second tinnitus rings
with constant background ringing, some days seeming louder than others

"Is this hemp oil?" yes, i've decreased the amount i've taken and it starting to have sleep issues again and becoming emotional (just got done intensely crying lol) it's called Colorado Hemp Oil, Quicksilver.

"Don't expect much from your visit"

i'm not going there for answers. my functional medicine doctor wants to rule out the physical causes i guess, he wants to use the ENT for his sources,
not his opinions.

also sorry about the quioting i know i didn't do it right.

Sounds like fleeting tinnitus. Most of T sufferers experience it. Don't worry about it.

The first and second months are the hardest. That's the time when many (including me) weep uncontrollably multiple times a day, every day.

Hopefully eventually you will feel a lot better (but it could take 3-6-12 months to get there).

i just don't know what caused it. it really fuels my anxiety and when i have bad anxiety it literally controls me, it makes me so depressed. i've never even been to a concert before but now i'm scared of any type of loud noises. it's like a have a phobia of the world. it's embarrassing. i don't know what helps or what i should do. i'm a music producer and yesterday i was working on a song and that's when i started noticing it again, i made sure i didn't have my speakers at a loud settings, i even changed the knob on the back so it physically couldn't go louder than it was suppose to be. this on top of my autoimmunity, i hate it so much. it makes me feel like i've done something wrong, like it's my fault.

but now i'm scared of any type of loud noises
I believe that the above is a good thing that will hopefully increase the likelihood that your T will eventually fade and will reduce the chance of your T getting louder. Our ears had been compromised. It makes sense to act accordingly. If you get exposed to a loud noise - don't worry - it is my understanding that it is actually not so easy to give oneself a permanent spike. I try to make sure that I avoid loud noises whenever I can do so.

You should know that getting professional advice is better than self medicating or getting advice from strangers on the Internet ;)

Also, if he/she isn't a specialist on Tinnitus, you should ask for them to give you a reference near you.

Best,

if i've learned anything about my autoimmunity it's that it's important to talk to people that's actually dealt with the same issues. when i went to the doctor for my autoimmune symptoms they kept saying i had carpol tunnel.. i think that's a pretty big difference than an autoimmune disease tageted on the thyroid.

@fruityreverb ,
Do you have hearing loss?
When I suffered a sudden sensorineural hearing loss, the audiologist asked if I had an autoimmune disease. As far as I know, I don't. My hearing loss was caused by a virus which my immune system failed to protect me from.

autoimmune symptoms
My mom also suffers from Hashimoto disease. She had trouble finding the right thyroid medication dose. She kept being over and then under. Now she learned to buy a year's supply of pills. This way all pills are from the same batch. It makes a big difference. Another thing she eventually learned is that the pills made from pig thyroids work better than the synthetic pills.

To answer the original OPs question. I would ensure they give you all medical checks including an MRI if the doctor thinks it's necessary.

You could look at seeing an immunologist as well regarding the autoimmune issue.

However, It seems to me that your anexity is the worry here, not the tinnitus itself. Can you seek advice from your Doctor on this? There is many routes to anexity issues.
