Hello everyone, i have read few threads on tinnitus and decided to join you and ask for advices. My T started 3 months ago, when i got back from skiing. At least i noticed it then. But unlike most of you, i have 2 different noises and i have tinnitus in both ears.
One noise is medium pitched constant tone which i hear only when im really isolated from sound or if i press my ear with finger really hard.
The other noise is feeling that i just exited some concert and my ears are buzzing. That tinnitus i can control with head and jaw movement.
I did all audio exams and everything is good, i did CT scan and im sceduled for MRI.
Also i think i feel a bit lightheaded but that depends. I spend most of my time in front of the computer.
I am 25y old, i go to the gym 5x a week and do cardio 6 times a week but this year i was lazy during winter and i did no cardio. I im 6` tall and have around 210lbs.
I am very worried for my MRI and possibility of me having some sort of tumor in my brain, neck or head

Don't worry about your MRI. Be happy for it because if there is an serious issue like a tumor causing your T, the MRI will show it and you can get it taken care of.

Most people can control their T with head and jaw movement. This is somatic tinnitus which affects 2/3 of people with T. Basically the body is wired together as one unit. Therefore it is not unusual that muscle movements can affect your tinnitus level and sound.

Normal hearing and T is also quite common. That is "normal" for standard hearing tests. However, what these standard hearing tests don't tell you is if you have hearing loss in the higher freq thresholds that standard tests do not test for, then it will account for this My hearing tests were fine. I had to get a high frequency hearing test which showed me I have loss around 13-14k, which is probably the cause of my T.

When you have ruled out a medical reason for your T (like a tumor), then you know you will be fine even with T. It is annoying and can be bothersome but you get used to it. Also in the early stages, there is still a chance it will diminish completely.

Im worried because i hear 2 types of noise in my ears. I thought it is something stupid and that it will go away but 3 months passed and im pretty much losing hope.
Can you please tell me which test was that so i could ask my physician about it?

I have a least two sounds going on and if I plug my ears, I hear much more, so I don't plug my ears! 3 months is still early. So don't lose hope, it may go away and even if it doesn't it will get better.

I am not sure what other tests you may need. Your doctor knows you and that best.

Usually, an ENT will check out your ears,/hearing, order standard audigram (hearing test) and/or MRI and thats about it. I just asked my ENT if I could also get a high frequency hearing test and add that to the mix. Once I saw my hearing loss on that test, then I was pretty sure that was the cause of my T.

Maybe your body (the T) is telling you take it a bit slower for some regeneration...maybe not ;) Just a thought.

2 sounds are not unusual... Yeah, the name "tinntius" sounds singular. I have at least 6 loud sounds...
So dont worry.

I really appreciate your advices. Im scheduled tomorrow for MRI and hopefully ill come back and tell what causes my tinitus. And i am training my whole life, last few years it is gym since i dont have time for regular sport and gym is very flexible. Im just hoping that it isnt something serious and that i wont become deaf too early.

We all have these fears when we get T. I was always thinking I was going to go deaf but even after a few years with T, my hearing still tests out as top notch! I just have this blasted headnoise! I am pretty active too. I mountain bike, work out, play soccer, hike etc multiple times a week, so stay active, stay happy! Let us know what you find out! We share in your struggles and your pains and rejoice in your resilience!

tinnitus comes with different noises and sounds.. Certain times i have 3-5 tones when my reactive t kicks in hard..

I also was a gym rat but my T and H make it hard for me to go now.. The gyms here are way to loud for me.. Be careful man.. But lifting weights never impacted anything with T so ur fine there..just plug up ur ears when going..i hated when someone next to me slammed their weights or yelled for no reason..

@Chrommagus --try not to worry too much as anxiety can make tinnitus worse. I have different noises--sometimes it's a steady ring, usually first thing in the morning. Then after a shower I either have a low T day or it revs up to a noise that sounds like steam leaking out of my head or sometimes like the noise you would imagine high voltage electricity sounds like. I also sometimes get a tonal sound rather than the hissing sound. I've managed to adjust to it all. I can't control the noise through jaw and head movement.

You are still 'young' in tinnitus terms and there's a good chance it will resolve on its own. If it doesn't you will still be okay. Try to stay busy and do the things you like to do. I had to keep working--and I think it was a good thing.

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing.

So i did MRI today and everything was good. Doctor said that considering my age, it could be that some sort of stress or fatigue caused it. Also since i am sitting a lot in front of computer, there is possibility that some nerves in neck are compromised aswell. Also she said that there is little or no chance that T will go away. So i guess i am happy that im ok in general but yet i am unhappy that im not 100% healthy :/
