Even on Ativan I have severe panic attacks.

When did your panic attacks subside?

Having a huge set back. At 5 months in was finally off the Ativan. Huge setback with grommets.

Now I am sick all day long with worry. Fear. Depression. Concerns.

Afraid the tinnitus will kill me.

Michelle,
It is OK to have anxiety.
A lot of ppl with tinnitus ...
worry a lot about different kind of noise in their environments.
Be patient about T and keep busy with your little one.
Life will be easier eventually. :)

God bless !

I've had severe tinnitus on my left side going on 8 years now. It's been a game changer but I managed to stop panicking after I accepted the fact that I have it and have to live & deal with it. Some days are harder than others. But then some days are easier than others.

I had severe T for a long time, next to no anxiety, slept okay. New tinnitus after a accident, and am experiencing anxiety like you, feel like I can't breath most the time, can't sleep. Almost 3 months in, and yeah, I can load up on benzos and does next to nothing. Hope it can calm down, it's a sickening feeling. I've never really had anxiety in my life before, it's nasty, I feel like I could have a heat attack at times and can't sit still.

Hi @Telis,

You may have seen me mention this before, but HBOT did more for me to start calming down my system than anything else. I did my first session about two months in, and after about 30 minutes, was able to relax for the first time since initial onset. Until then, I didn't know whether I'd ever be able to relax again.

Now that I have a home mHBOT unit, I can settle into that relaxation every day, and the effects seem to be cumulitive. It's been a game changer. I don't believe any benzo or other type of drug could have given me the same benefits. -- I really hope you can break out of this current cycle you're in soon!

When I stopped worrying about worrying. I keep myself busy to the point where I temporarily forget about the ringing in my ears. I picked up creative writing as a hobby. It's a very quiet hobby so it forces me to reflect on my tinnitus, but in a good way. I try not to think about panic attacks or I'll work myself up to having one. Sometimes stress elevates my frequency of panic attacks so I leave work business at work and keep home business at home.

I think the moral of my rambling is to say: confront your tinnitus but don't let it worry you. Don't be afraid to sit in "silence" sometimes to have some "quiet" reflection time. Once you're comfortable with that, your quality of life will increase.

I developed anxiety panic disorder about 2 years after onset. It was mainly about worrying about my health because I was home bound and not exercising anymore. I'm talking 160bpm+ attacks, multiple visits to urgent care, ER and nightly calls to crisis lines. So what worked for me?

First of all, Ativan did work for me when I had insomnia from it. That's it. Then never took it again as it can make anxiety worse when you develop a dependency. I truly believe panic attack anxiety is due to some kind of deficiency in the body. The most helpful thing for, I kid you not, is friggen home made vegetable soup. Like 10-13 different vegetables and just loading up on vitamins and minerals for my brain to chill the f' out. My immediate go to's are also Calm Magnesium, Passion flower drops and PharmaGABA. But when I eat the vegetable soup regularly, I don't need anything else. Sounds stupid. Vegetable soup. But it was a happy accident when a health nut friend of my fed me a similar soup when I was stressed out. I wrote out the recipe here if interested. Another thing that helped was seeing a therapist so I can unload all those circling thoughts. Hope you can try the soup. If you do, the effects may happen within an hour or after a few days so the nutrients can build up.

Are you taking anything else except for Ativan to try to calm down the anxiety?

Are you still taking Ativan and how often?
Have you taken anything else to help lower your anxiety, no matter if it worked or not.

I'm trying to understand what has worked and what you've tried that hasn't worked so I dont suggesting other things you've already tried.

And I don't like calling it anxiety. Especially when thinking to myself. It's almost makes it worse, so I call it Anx instead.

I think to beat anxiety you need to understand how anxiety works and, when you are ready, learn how to disrupt it. Once you have managed to calm right down and be ia normal resting state.

I've had anxiety attacks that were the scale...fuckin supernova ones...symptoms you could never believe.

I would believe it. Have you ever experienced Depersonalization or Derealization? I have. And at it's worse, I would choose my current T level over that any day.

Hey Lane, what home HBOT unit do you recommend? As someone who is still stuck in the fight or flight as of right now I'm highly interested in this especially since I'm attempting to limit my benzo use moving forward.
