I developed anxiety panic disorder about 2 years after onset. It was mainly about worrying about my health because I was home bound and not exercising anymore. I'm talking 160bpm+ attacks, multiple visits to urgent care, ER and nightly calls to crisis lines. So what worked for me?
First of all, Ativan did work for me when I had insomnia from it. That's it. Then never took it again as it can make anxiety worse when you develop a dependency. I truly believe panic attack anxiety is due to some kind of deficiency in the body. The most helpful thing for, I kid you not, is friggen home made vegetable soup. Like 10-13 different vegetables and just loading up on vitamins and minerals for my brain to chill the f' out. My immediate go to's are also Calm Magnesium, Passion flower drops and PharmaGABA. But when I eat the vegetable soup regularly, I don't need anything else. Sounds stupid. Vegetable soup. But it was a happy accident when a health nut friend of my fed me a similar soup when I was stressed out. I wrote out the recipe
here if interested. Another thing that helped was seeing a therapist so I can unload all those circling thoughts. Hope you can try the soup. If you do, the effects may happen within an hour or after a few days so the nutrients can build up.
Are you taking anything else except for Ativan to try to calm down the anxiety?
Are you still taking Ativan and how often?
Have you taken anything else to help lower your anxiety, no matter if it worked or not.
I'm trying to understand what has worked and what you've tried that hasn't worked so I dont suggesting other things you've already tried.
And I don't like calling it anxiety. Especially when thinking to myself. It's almost makes it worse, so I call it Anx instead.
