When are they going to cure this?

I'm tired of the buzzing and sizzling and the ringing for a year now.

When are they going to cure this? The big thing here is that to them tinnitus is not life threatening. so research is limited and of course research cost money. So a cure for tinnitus is not going to happen too soon.

It does kill people. People strung out on benzos. Peoeple who are straved for sleep till their bodies are collapse. 50,000000 acute 20,000000 chronic. The hundreds of suicides dont count ha. An the service men who go crazy with ptsd dont count either. All the suffereing doesnt mean a thing either. Your post is way off the mark.

Have you noticed any changes in your ability to process sound when a lot of other noises are going on? Do you listen to music?

I just dont get it a little over a year ago i was fine, i have mild earing lose i cant see how that can make all this noise in my head. 35db at 40000 35 at 6000 and 40db at 8000
i dont listen to music and i cant take alot of sounds now but i hear it over everything i also feel off like im on cold meds or somthing i have seen so many dr.s 5 ENT had many MRIS and CTs done they all say live with it

Whenever I read this kind of questions my inner voice answers it for me:

In grave.

I hope it will come sooner though.

I also want to mention that as long as us sufferers keep saying "I'm habituated to my T, I can live with this" scientists will not attempt to find a cure or at least efficient treatments. I think this is also one of the reasons why we do not have one yet.

I agree. This sentiment paints T as a mental disorder that can be "overcome" with willpower, whereas all "habituation" means is "I decided to try to live with the raging storm in my head." And oftentimes people de-habituate too. Lots of that happening around here; when people inevitably get spikes, it's back to square one, with the noise louder than ever.

"They" can't cure MS, Diabetes, many cancers, Alzheimers...chronic pain syndrome...the common cold. The list is endless. Modern medicine treats and manages diseases, it rarely cures them. Tinnitus is a symptom of many diseases often in themselves incurable. I' m holding out for habituation so I can live my life not putting it on hold until some magic bullet shows up.

Well they do say that within 20 years there should be a cure.
Tinnitus is a huge issue in the military and they are she spending money on research.
This makes me depressed. 20 freaking years and there is guarantee if our Ts get worse or better in that time period.

It would definitely be very profitable if they find a cure. This is probably why large sums of money are invested in research. In Auris Medical for example.

Diabetes can he managed and reversed with a proper ketone diet.
Alzheimer's more and more appears to be diabetes of the brain, and a proper ketone diet might be of help.

Interesting story about MS. However the other treatments are not cures as such. There are similar 'tinnitus' diets out there which promise much the same for our condition.
I agree that if there ever is a cure for tinnitus it will come about through the way we as individuals treat our bodies, perhaps through diet. I honestly cannot see a pill being developed which will cure the condition. However it would be lovely to be proved wrong.
Habituation for many people is as good as a cure (and sometimes better, if people have started exercising, eating right and feeling fitter.) It should not be downplayed as somehow preventing a 'real cure'.
