Where Is Bill Bauer?

I have a feeling @coffee_girl is going to yell at us. :p
No I'm not, you can do no wrong in my eyes! (y)

I always imagined him eating a bowl of chicken with white cotton gloves then afterwards sniffs his fingers in between typing snarky responses to forum members. Afterwards he would clean his ears with his keys and flings them across the room while screaming at his cat.

These are all the warm memories that keeps me smiling when I think of our dear forum members. Everyone has a story which makes you all so special <3

Bill Bauer seemed tough, as are we all on this forum. Life has its dark moments and T is one of them, but things can always, and I mean always, get better. Plus we actually DO live in interesting times. Keep the hope up lads and gals, cure is not far away.

Bill Baur always quoted JP Sartre,
his favourite being "Hell is other people."

Whereas I understand where he is coming from, let's face it - people can be pretty hellish at times
(take me for instance) - yet some people manage to be absolute gems, I'd say angels.

I dunno - life's a funny ole game, at the best o' times.....

"Pull the other leg - it's got bells on...!"

(Silly old English expression)

Right. Easier to once again hint at suicide versus take 30 seconds to see that the member has been around.

She has not rated any of my posts and I'm not quite sure how to check if she rated others...didn't even know that was a possibility.

I would venture to guess that most members do not check either.

So do me a favour and spare me your patronizing tone.

Anything else?

Sorry but you have an odd habit of implying posters have committed suicide. :dunno:

Tip for others: when I'm concerned about a poster, I do a quick name search. You can check posting history, which is how I found the rated comment on a thread where the poster was referenced. Posting history is also helpful because we all know posters who have been suicidal or referenced suicide but no longer are in the same mind frame. For example, I believe threefirefour mentioned suicide at one point. He has not been as active, posters who do not frequent MPP may not have realized he no longer had tinnitus. If you didn't search his name and only found a past thread, it would be possible to assume the worst.

Or circling back to the subject, from Bill's posting history we know he's sometimes gone for extended periods while traveling.

Consider how many members are on TT versus how many are active. The non-active members all did not commit suicide. And as someone who sought out TT when suicidal, reading speculations was not helpful.

I have to say TFF you actually amaze me.
Rightly or wrongly, because of your perhaps fairly militant approach to this whole scenario, I had you down as quite a severe case.

From being a very stringent advocate for real targeted scientific cutting edge treatments, which could truly make a difference to the way we suffer, and rejecting Jastreboff and all the essentially 'therapy' based stuff, you suddenly came out and said that you no longer have tinnitus.

You could knock me down with a feather.

So what happened?
How did you get cured?
Those cutting edge treatments being researched have born no fruit yet - but you no longer have tinnitus??

Am I the only one struggling with this ??
Surely not.

Whatever happened, and however you achieved it, I'm impressed.

I got a brace for my TMD.
The cause of my tinnitus was TMD
I was lucky I guess, but there's treatments on the way. In a sense, because of this what I won was like winning a thousand bucks in the lottery. Still great but not the jackpot. At least now I don't have to buy a tinnitus device.

If I put aside the fact, that I'm not even the author of this thread, or that I'm not the only one making implications, I find it rather interesting that you took a jab at me specifically.

Yes unfortunately for most, part of the reality of living with severe tinnitus is suppressing suicidal thoughts each and every day...
When a poster in extreme distress suddenly stops posting, right or wrong, it is the first thing that crosses everyones mind...
Those who say it does not are simply lying.

Don't be pissed off with me..
I did not invent this horrifying condition...
I simply recognize the ugly reality of being tortured 24/7 with no end in sight and what it does to people.

He's back!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who had kind words to say. It means a lot.
I haven't seen him on in a while, he hasn't posted... kinda worried.
I got busy and couldn't read this forum for about three weeks. Today was the first day when I had a chance to load this site.

Right now I am experiencing some unexpected ear fullness (that began a couple of hours ago). I am trying to ignore it, for now...

A week or two ago, I noticed what I thought was a malignant tumor on my body. The images on the net that were similar to it were all that of cancer, and no benign tumors seemed to look like that. I was sure that it was cancer, and the only question that I wanted an answer to was whether it had already spread to the lymph nodes. I saw a family doctor at a walk-in clinic, and he surprised me by saying that in his opinion it is nothing. He wouldn't give me a referral to a specialist or a referral for a biopsy. He wants me to observe it and see a doctor if I notice that it is growing or changing. I thought the whole point was to catch it early...

I guess I Could use what I learned during that doctor visit and tell my family doctor (who couldn't see me that day) that I Had been observing this thing for a while and that it has increased in size lately. I still haven't made up my mind about what I ought to do.

I honestly thought that I had a real chance of beating tinnitus (and finally hearing silence) there... ;)

How dark is it that people thought I meant suicide.
I also thought that you were talking about suicide.

When (earlier in this thread) you wrote that your T was gone, I thought you were kidding. I am thrilled that your T is actually gone!!!

Congratulations!

Is it completely gone (can you hear silence when you wear earplugs in a quiet room), or did you move on to the stage where you can only hear it faintly when you are in a quiet room?!

I believe my tinnitus is also from TMD. I'm getting a splint next week. I'd be interested in comparing notes to make sure I'm on the right track. I'm not convinced I'm going about it right.

My tinnitus is gone but I'm still round and kicking.
Wow, congratulations on your tinnitus going away! But you break this incredible news to us with only ten words??? Seems there should be some kind of policy here, that if a person's tinnitus goes away, they should be required to write out at least a 10,000 word disseration on how it feels to, in a sense, get a new chance at life--without tinnitus. -- We'll be waiting... ;)

Welcome back @Bill Bauer!

Our bodies and brains work in a mysterious way to say the least. There are actually lots of cases where peoples tinnitus has just disappeared out of the blue. Wether they had it for 1 week or 4 years.
Probably more then we hear about,

Curious to see how you get on. I'm starting to think that my T is also not noise induced, at least partially.

Well in that sense it's nt completely gone. I can kind of hear it if I wear earplugs in a 30dB room, but if I'm not wearing earplugs, then I can't.

@Agrajag364 It took a year before a specialized dentist told me that a mouth guard for TMJ and a mouth guard for TMJ possible related tinnitus are different. He made me a tinnitus guard for 200 dollars and a second one for free. It's thin, semi soft and flexible. The sides don't extend deep into the gum areas as this will cause those with tinnitus to have an unstable nerve reaction.

The guard is similar to one for whiting teeth and it's very strong. I will wake up in the morning and I don't realize that it's in my mouth. It can't be noticed by others and I can talk well when wearing it. Mine covers the top teeth, but it doesn't cover my wisdom teeth because that would place too much pressure on the jaw joints. The key to stopping jaw related tinnitus is keep the top and bottom teeth from touching and keeping the mouth relax. The Dave @Jazzer method helps with that during the day.

Thanks. I'm having a flat plane splint made. I think it's also called a Michigan splint. I saw four different TMJ/D "specialists" before I decided on one. They all gave me the same diagnosis and they all gave me different treatment plans. I had no idea treatment in this area was so controversial. I have no idea if I chose the right path. Looking for any advice I can squeeze from people.

Greg - you are the "go to guru" of this site.
We all absolutely need those people who know their stuff.
I appreciate you buddy,

Thanks so much Greg, this is really interesting and helpful. So the dentist specialist you saw sounds like he is pretty experienced in treating tinnitus using guards. Would you mind sharing his name?

I had a fitted mouth guard made a few years ago as it became obvious to me a constant headache I had might be related to TMJ/teeth grinding as it varied day by day and the daily pain level often related to how stiff my jaw was when I awoke. But I found it just shifted my headache from the skull to the temples so stopped using it. Bizarrely the constant 2 year long headache eventually went away shortly after i got tinnitus.

I had been thinking of trying the guard again but I struggled to sleep with it before and since tinnitus am still struggling to sleep so have not done so.

So it's interesting to hear you were made a tinnitus specific TMJ shield that doesn't extent so far into the gum area and that you don't even feel when you wake up.

So did the guard help reduce your tinnitus?

Maybe Bill got neutered and is recovering? People will try extreme measures to relieve themselves of tinnitus.
Bill, a valium plus gabapentin taken orally plus as a suppository should be commended as a noble effort. You had nothing to lose except your noise as Dr. Abe Shulman would have said. Why didn't I think of that that? It is certainly worth a try. An ace up your sleeve or your arse so to speak.

Could you leave me out of your fantasies about castration and ass, please?
It was a a joke. Everyone is so serious. I have noise that I don't like real well either. A lot of suicidal talk....more than I've seen in years. Just trying to lighten things up a bit. You probably don't even know who Dr. Abraham Shulman is?

On a side note, I hope you are are doing better Bill. Tinnitus can be so annoying and frustrating.

Reading about tinnitus suffering daily and the agony it brings is probably not good for our state of mind. It is quite an addicting site, and I've asked to be voluntarily removed several times. It could possibly turn people into a very unhappy and destitute state, much like a suicide forum.
