You Are a Champion!

I went to a hockey game last night in a private suite followed by a fancy dinner as part of one of my wife's Christmas parties. Awesome time. I wore my custom ear molds on and off. Of course I am "Tinnitissing" today, but not worse then a bad day that can happen "just because." Oh and its Sunday ;)
 
@fishbone thank you for your positive words. I'm just over two months into my tinnitus journey and it frightens me to no end. I woke up last night with terrible inflamation in my inner ear and just cried until I fell back asleep. It's really hard for me to go through this because I used to be such a positive person, now I often fall into the trap of feeling broken.

But what you say is true, and I feel that if those who are worse off than me can stay positive then I can too. I want this to make me into a more patient and compassionate person. I want to continue to bring happiness into the lives of my friends and not close myself off. Your words really make me hopeful, and silence my doubts during a really rough time.

Even with all the hurt, struggles and pain, I still see a point in being positive and helping good people in their lives. I am a big believer in gratitude and giving/paying it forward.

I come to this site to help people such as yourself and many others. I wish I had this help when I got tinnitus almost 32 years ago, so I feel like it's my duty to help people. I have been labeled the beacon of positivity and that's my goal, to spread hope and positivity on this site :)

I have always looked for hope and motivation in life. Hope/motivation is such a powerful thing, it can change lives and lead people to achieve more. Affliction/obstacles are a part of life, all humans will face some type of affliction, some worst than others. That little hope, that little motivation can move people, guide them, encourage them to possibly take that extra step they never would have taken. Those little steps, those extra steps can eventually turn out to be something amazing. We will never know, until we have that hope and motivation to take that extra step.

I motivate people on and off the computer, I feel that all humans need to be motivated. it is that powerful and a blessing to be motivated in life.

Tinnitus is a horrible ordeal, it has changed my life. I was fortunate to have some good people around me in my early years and I was given HOPE. I was motivated to live a life even if these ears ring and even if it made me very nervous. I am simply here to give back and help people. To give them a glimpse of hope that you will be ok. You can make it. Nothing more, nothing less :)

My early years were very difficult, all the posts and threads we see here on this site, I could have written one of them myself. So, I know how these good people feel and I want to help them, simple as that.
 
T is louder than usual, I assume because work was super busy, and of course everyone who saw Star Wars has to voice their opinon as loud and as obnoxiously as possible.

It's bearable, but also really annoying.

I'm hoping that I'll be ok tomorrow.

Yeah. I try to tell myself that medical knowledge and technology is improving all the time. I'm just negative by nature, I guess. We could all very well be killed off by climate change before that happens, you know?

I was young as well and my thoughts and feelings were very different. As I grew older, gained more knowledge and WANTED to help myself, things changed. We can change our ways, if we try. It's not an overnight thing. It's gradual and it can come slowly. It's up to us, to first want to change our ways.

My family life has gone,IV got up to 50-60 dB loss left ,40 right hf loss,life has become shit,people seem to like me more,and yet I want to end this misery,it is beyond difficult after 2 years.somehow I have survived,but if euthanasia was pay as u go,I'd be gone
 
Ugh. T is up tonight for some reason. Can hear it over the fan.

I keep telling myself that everything will be okay, though.

I'm seeing a local support group on the 17th. It'll feel good to vocalize my struggles.

Sorry to hear the tinnitus is loud hopefully it will calm down soon. Instead of using a fan, I advise that you use a sound machine or nature sounds played through a good audio source not a mobile phone, unless it is blue-toothed to an external speaker or attached to a docking station that has speakers.

The sound of a fan or its volume is fixed and cannot be adjusted which isn't good. Sound enrichment, which is the purpose of using this type of "sound therapy" should be set at a level where it isn't drawing attention to itself - preferably slightly lower than the tinnitus and not masking it. Its main purpose is not to help a person to sleep but to supply the brain and auditory system with sound when we are asleep at a low level. Hearing Therapists and Audiologists that specialises in tinnitus and hyperacusis management, suggest using the sound sources I have recommended as their volume can be adjusted.

I do use a mixture of white noise and rain sounds to help me sleep via an app on my phone. It's on a timer, usually for 15 minutes. I usually have it just below my T.

I do not, however, have a docking station or external speakers. I use my phone speaker.

I'll look into these other options.

Try not to rely on the fan to mask your tinnitus otherwise you will find it more difficult to habituate. The brain cannot habituate to tinnitus unless it can hear it. Even though I found this only now, thanks! I hope you had a great 2020, 2021,2 022 and the start of 2023! I'm currently in a spike. I hope to ride it out, which usually happens in 12-24 months. Us old timers know the drill :( still pray for better treatments or cure. I love your posts!

I 100% know how you feel my friend.

My tinnitus has reached such a level that it feels like a spike all day.

All in all, I am doing my best to make this day productive.
