Hey Hamsti you are appreciated, thank you for commenting on my thread. I just want you to know that you are such an amazing person and strong

No. Finally believing this is going to kill me. Must be the punishment from god for all my failures in life. Bye everyone, thank you for your understanding an kindness. I really hope they are going to find a cure for T and hearing loss for eyeryone one of you. I wish you the best.
    Damocles
    You'll be alright @Hamsti, I promise.

Just wait for the Shore device and Xen1101 to hit the market and you'll see. It is very unlikely 1 of the 2 won't improve your QoL.

Hi, have a wonderful christmas :) my husband got me a massage gun, so the standard T question: is it save, because of the vibrations? Fml :D
    Hamsti
Thank you @Damocles, Spike is here, not sure from the fear or what else. T is atop everything, the last to nights I heard orchestral music and buzzing as if a had headphones on. I hear barely anything else. In a dark place right now.
    Damocles
Sorry @Hamsti. Not good to hear. So some musical tinnitus also?

Let your ears rest, until the spike disappears.

And don't worry, exciting treatments are on their way. Just got to be patient.
    Bmore1234
I just got one as well. What did you decide or what have you noticed so far?
Has someone experience with agnus castus? Read about it and ...bam its an dopamin antogonist. Im trying it for my pcos though.
    TheDanishGirl
I tried it over several months for severe pms symptoms. Didnt have any effect on me at all.
I only read the science part of TT, and I just decided only to read the first post of any thread, so the doomers & gloomers can't touch me
@Padraigh Griffin I always sympathized with you because we got tinnitus in the same situation. I hope it's quiet where you are now. RIP
    NYCGuy
So so sad news, shocls me a lot. He was a great guy and we suffer similar things as pulsatile, mem etc
    Hamsti
Yes, I have to cry again and again today because it hits me so much. I think we're all afraid that it was suicide and he just couldn't take it anymore.
    TheDanishGirl
RIP to a fellow sufferer. Such a tragedy :( May he be in a better place.
Does anyone know how much sitting in a car blocks outside noise?
    CW Dragon
I know that there are certain floor mats you can use to help block noise from your tires hitting road, but other than that not sure.
    S
Depends on what type of noise? Sirens will cut right through it.
I went to the doctor because of an outer ear infection. The eardrum isnt affected. He descriped a lotion with gentamycin. Opinions?
The problem is, what should I do? I cant wear ear protection because of my hearing loss. I dont want to live in fear anymore.
    Damocles
@Hamsti, stop worrying about events so far into the future, we can't predict how bad or good they'll be, so there's no point dwelling on them.

Always keep your focus on the problems in the now and near.

For all we know, by the time your daughter's 5, there'll be some drug that prevents acoustic trauma.
    Damocles
As for the problem at hand, I think you should do what @Stacken77 suggested and go and see an Audiologist/ENT about different Hearing Aids, that would better accommodate protecting your hearing when your daughter cries.
    Damocles
Don't worry about the cost. If there's a pair of hearing aids that will address your problem, then we can just set up a crowdfunding page and link it to TT.

I'm sure people here would love to be able to help you with this.
My kid goes through a special phase and everytime she doesn't get want she wants, she cries in a very shrill and loud tone. (1/2)
We need a TT hall of fame of long time sufferes cured.
    Lurius
I would also be ok with just a TT hall of fame long time sufferers not cured. Just a medal for enduring for so long without offing yourself. That deserves an award.

Kein Problem. :)
    Kriszti
Hey Hamsti, really nice of you to ask. Hope you enjoyed the Margarita. :) Life has not been going smoothly over here, but trying my best to manage.
    Steph1710
@Hamsti thanks for asking! :) Well, I am now working in conservation - which I am loving. I am off to Italy in a few weeks for my 32nd birthday. And I am soon to move back into my van, so I'll be on the road again. T wise, not so great. Having a spike, & my H is playing up. Still, I'm getting on with life. How are you doing? X
Someone honked at me today. Is this dangerous?
    Kriszti
Depends on the distance, the loudness and whether you had ear pro. If you don't experience any pain, dull hearing or worsening, that's a good sign.
Yesterday I forgot to take my daily dose of mirtazapine...today my T is out of the roof. Coincidence?
    danielthor
@Stacken77 I would recommend it. Been on it for little over a year now and no matter how intrusive and obnoxious the sound in my head is I always sleep through like a baby. It also helps you see the light at the end of the tunnel. If you decide to go with then don't go over 15 mg. That's when it starts losing its sedative properties
    Stacken77
Thank you so much @Hamsti and @danielthor for your input. I'm going to try to persevere with melatonin and Hydroxzyine a bit longer, but knowing that mirtazapine is an option further down the road is great!
    B
Hamsti, does the Mirtzapene help your MES?
After avoiding coffee for months I was brave and tried it today...and it calmed my t. Wtf Mr. T, wtf...
    Christiaan
Here's to coffee: the cause of, and solution to, tinnitus spikes
A different ENT did a stapedius reflex measurement. It was iinsanely loud. Do someone know on how much db they test?
    kingsfan
oh yea, I have developed a definite "fuck it" attitude towards my tinnitus. I'm coming up on 1 years since the Acoustice relfex test. I doubt mine will have any improvement after that much time, but I hope yours continues to get better.
    Hottopic29
Im having same issue made my ears buzz more been 5 hours since .. echo bells is higher that was mostly masked all day
    sakrt
Is there an alternative to the Acoustic reflex test?
I decided not to walk on eggshells anymore. With having a kid, you can't win the "avoiding loud noises" game ...
    Christiaan
Hi there @Hamsti , hope your baby is not that naughty the last few days;) How are you & your baby btw? Did you enjoy your weekend a little?
    Hamsti
Hey, thanks for asking @Christiaan :) She is really naughty the last few days, I assume she's getting a new tooth. The weekend was quite nice, but now I've got a new ear infection :(
    Christiaan
Oh, you've a daughter. How nice. Well , that's at least one, now 31 teeth to go:) I'm sorry about your ear infection btw. Have you tried some meds or over-the- counter remedies? Ginger, garlic & a bit of rest seem to do the trick. Fingers crossed that your ears heal asap!
I believe in Elon the Almighty like other people believe in god. Finally I know what it feels like to be religious haha
    Hamsti
@Christiaan @Damocles had to google Schultenbräu...you are invited to drink REAL german beer, just come over to my place haha
    Christiaan
@Hamsti Haha, I've also just taken a quick look on internet to find out that Germans barely sell this beer at the German Aldi. It's like we get the leftovers in NL and you just keep the best like Warsteiner to yourselves. How nice of you lot! That other thing sounds great btw. Maybe in the near tinnitus-free future, we can all sit together enjoying the silence while drinking a pint of your good German beer:)
    Christiaan
@Damocles It's actually a German beer. I think it's fairly decent for the price you pay for it. As a matter of fact, you can probably get it at your local Aldi in the UK:o
Waiting for Neuralink.Ps message me, if they start to implant the device in everyone's brain.
I understand how awful tinnitus is, I really do.But why do you always have to downplay the successes in the success thread?People need hope.
What I really want to know: Why some people develop one or two tones while almost deaf and I develop a shitty marching band inside my head?
    Christiaan
And though it may not seem like it, but time is on our side as we're on the cusp of many bio-medical and technological breakthroughs, such as Ebselen, new tDCS applications for tinnitus (at Regensburg university and at Antwerp Medical Hospital if you're interested), FX-322 trials that could take place in Europe in 2022 and Susan Shore's device could very well be commercialised in a year or two (fingers crossed!).
    Christiaan
There's definitely so much to hope for .And if all goes well, you won't be hearing bagpipes in a few years or so:)
    Hamsti
Thanks @Christiaan. Your words are always kind and hopeful, that really helps me.
