  • hyperacusis sucks. all my friends are hanging out and I can't be with them. this is the last chance I'll have to see them in at least a year
    danielthor
Your friends don't know how lucky they are. That's the up-side to getting this, normal life will feel like a blessing once you get it back
    Stacken77
@danielthor Normal life would feel totally unreal, out of this world, a blessed dream.
    Foamearplugssuck
@Stacken77 it's pain hyperacusis. and they were meeting at panera, which is a pretty loud environment. my hyperacusis is recent so I'm trying to take it really easy on my ears to let them recover as much as possible.
just realized that I may not be able to listen to the new kendrick lamar album when it drops.....I am sick horrified nauseous desolate

I'm very sorry to hear that. I only have some mild sound sensitivity that I have been improving by gradually increasing the tv volume over the past 10 months. I only use high quality speakers. Regular tv speakers make everything worse.
    Foamearplugssuck
I found that using monitors made my symptoms worse. I think my ears are tired and need a good, long break from listening to things. Glad to hear your sensitivity is improving though!

Thanks. I hope you feel better soon too sounds like you have a solid plan in place.
even if we do get a treatment in the next decade, nothing is going to assuage the pain of losing my 20s to T/H
    danielthor
Your 30's, and 40's and the rest of your life is going to be amazing precisely because of this though. Nobody will love life more than us
    Keith Handy
The 20s are overrated. Focus on where you go from there.
I can't believe that one unpaid internship ruined my entire life
    Julien87
It is very recent, keep in mind it can very well fade away in the coming months.
    Foamearplugssuck
@Julien87 My internship was back in 2019. my T didnt fade at all. recently it has gotten worse and I'm now in the early stages of hyperacusis. I'm so tired.
    Julien87
My bad, I thought you posted your first thread in June of this year. Hang in there..
HELP my neurologist wants me to get another MRI ahhhhhhhhhhh
    Taw
Can't you do a CT scan instead?
    Foamearplugssuck
@tracyNYC my last one was in january 2019, pre tinnitus. my neuro wants one for some neurological issues I've been having for a while, but I dont think they're going to find anything new. he said we could see how my ears are doing in a month and then decide, but I don't want to dance with the devil/hyperacusis
    tracyNYC
I agree with @Taw that you should ask about a CT scan. They may need the dye (not sure if it's the same as for an MRI), but at least it's not five sledgehammers firing in your ears. Best of luck to you.
love it when I get so desperate that I start checking this website every other hour just to see if a tinnitus breakthrough has been made
holy shit I think I'm starting to get noxacusis.....I'm panicking oh my god
    Foamearplugssuck
@SD7 not entirely sure, but probably has to do with listening to/producing music for too long without breaks and then accidentally blasting my ears when I messed with the gain settings on a plug-in. Maybe the vaccine had a role too?
    SD7
@Foamearplugssuck yea the vaccine gave me tinnitus....later on I think it assisted in giving me hyperacusis. What was your experience?
    Foamearplugssuck
@SD7 I started getting symptoms about a week after the vaccine. Unfortunately they've worsened, and I'm not sure why because I've been protecting the hell out of my ears. I guess time will tell...
having migraine and tinnitus is a special kind of hell
    Steph1710
Yup! I'm a migraine sufferer. Tbh, my migraines are so bad, I kinda forget about my T when I have them. :-/
    Foamearplugssuck
@Steph1710 my migraines always make my T 10x worse so it gets much harder to ignore. I'm also scared to try meds out of fear of permanently spiking my T. fun stuff.
LMAO I bought the concert tickets......knowing damn well I'm going to have to resell them....gotta love having tinnitus!
    Brittany95
My sister got us tickets to a concert in September with TWO of my favorite bands together and I'm scared of going...but I wanna see them lol
    Steph1710
I bought concert tickets recently.. I have indeed just resold them. :(
goddammit. I just want to use headphones. is that too much to fucking ask.
    nocticolor
Living with obnoxiously loud people and not being able to use headphones is the worst.
    Foamearplugssuck
@starrynights SAME I was so depressed my first year because I couldn't find any joy in music. It was such a big adjustment, and I still get really sad about not being able to truly enjoy music anymore.
    Foamearplugssuck
@nocticolor yep, my parents are really loud sometimes, and it's so annoying. Plus, it's like I have no privacy to work on my music or anything because they can hear everything I do....it sucks.
Got a new phone and was surprised with a free pair of AirPods... can the universe stop shoving my tinnitus in my face lol
Last night I dreamed that I decided to use headphones. I listened to something for five seconds, and my tinnitus spiked unbearably. haha.
Hi @Foamearplugssuck ! I'm genuinely sorry for everything you're going thru. Thinking of you I hope your kitty brings you some joy. I have a gray tabby named Alvin & a persian chinchilla named Mr. Peepers. :)
    LilSass
Mr. P is 20 yrs old- He's a tough little bugger! Cats are beautiful creatures & they're really good at getting you thru tough times. :)
    Foamearplugssuck
@LilSass thank you. sorry you're going through similar stuff too. Tell Alvin and Mr. Peepers I said hi!
    LilSass
I will! Yeah, it sucks. Life has been quite surreal these past 6 months. Sending you love & hugs! <3
