The pain is like sharp needles in the ears. The higher pitched the tinnitus gets the more pain there is. Yes sometimes a dull earache accompanies it but not constantly. I take two 5000mg paracetamol per day and sometimes additional ibrupofen.

I have hyperacusis pain in my ears, brain, and upper throat. Inside the brain is worse and pretty scary as well as painful. Besides noise triggering it I found out this morning that sniffing jasmine oil now gives me immediate pain, too. This actually used to calm me down and cause no pain at all...

It should improve over time as long as you protect your ears when you go outdoors. Use quality ear plugs. Some folks use sound therapy but others say you need silence and time to let them heal.
