  • well was stuck exposed to an impact drill while picking up my car from the shop. here we go.

@ZFire All valid points. I think this is the loudest thing I've been exposed to so far. My watch didn't record the db level since it was in multiple short bursts. Felt like my ears and head were going to explode. Online search says up to 110decibels.
    kingsfan
@ZFire I only had my 1of1 custom 26db earplugs in. My ear spiked almost immediately after I left and ears have felt clogged and painful. Just talking is making my ears have a lot of pressure.
    kingsfan
@ZFire My right ear was facing the direction of the sound but the whole garage reverberated from it. Then I was exposed to air out of an air compressor for several seconds
They're chopping a tree down right outside my window. No warning or anything. I swear etiquette is way better in the city.
My hairline has definitely thinned. Angry at dermatologist I saw last May for gaslighting me. Now I am sick, broke, middle-aged, AND ugly.
    Juliane
@kingsfan Yes I am talking to you :-) I always find your updates very well-written and multi-layered and was wondering if you are a writer / if you are writing anything. I don't know why, it just crossed my mind :-)
    kingsfan
@Juliane you are way too sweet. No I am not a writer, but you are giving me delusions of grandeur =)
    Juliane
@kingsfan Haha :-) My pleasure! Maybe you will be a writer someday
what do I have to do to get someone to help me get hired? I've been trying for over a year now.
    L along the way
Hard to say... maybe ask family and friends for advice.. look at your field of talents & what you find a fun & meaningful job.. just respond to different possibilities and see if anything comes out
My neighbors' hobby is going in and out of their cars. I hear their doors slam at least once every hour. They leave and come back over &over
I never really got a chance to experience life after my fiance left. 2 months later we were on lockdown, 6 months after that T took over.
    kingsfan
@Juliane what were you up to back then?
    Juliane
@kingsfan I was doing a job I loved with people I connected really well with. Felt more balanced, I guess. Also had T back then but it was manageable and mild.
    Cmspgran
Can relate to you both so much, my girlfriend of ten years and I split a year ago, I too had all sorts of plans to move on and then beyond severe tinnitus took over in May.
Whew. Tried to drive without earplugs yesterday and everything was just so loud, the engine, the wind, the sound of the tires on the pavement
Looking at other designers' portfolios in order to try and find ways to improve mine is very humbling...
    Robster
A lot of people wouldn't admit that, it's shows your character that you're prepared to look at ways you can improve your craft. Good luck in the job hunt.
    SharonBell
Do you have hyperacusis? I was hoping someone could explain it to me.
    capitalism is a joke
    W
@kingsfan Whether or not capitalism is about infinite growth or not and if that's possible doesn't matter. It will always be about the efficient allocation of resources. I agree CEO's are overpaid, but senior management often times have a vision that everyday workers do not have so sometimes their pay is justified.

@ZFire The US Tax code is progressive and despite what politicians like to say, there simply isn't enough income to tax on the wealthy to fund these programs. I'd prefer the bare minimum at the federal level. Unfair to millions of people who'd prefer a different system/strategy in their home states.
    W
@ZFire Also, you see right and left leaning ultra-wealthy businessmen fleeing high tax areas for lower tax states. The same will happen if we tax too high at the federal level. But in the end the math doesn't math, the middle class will have to pay more to fund these programs.
Kin kings fan I saw that you shared something about hair cells. It was. Rey long, but wondering if you could explain more. I have hair cell damage.

    kingsfan
I'm holding my breath with every email notification, hoping it's not a rejection letter.
    4Grace
If ever I felt that I wanted something to work out for someone it is the Job for you. I so hope and pray you get this!!! May God bless you
    cjbhab
good luck! hope you get it.
Interview today. Not prepared at all.Hate talking about myself.Just want to work without all the self-infatuation & nepotistic office culture
    ZFire
    Good luck to you.
    Robster
Hope you get it. Totally agree with your comments about office culture.
Need to find a trustworthy person to take care of my cat.I'm not doing this much longer. The shame of going from having everything to nothing
    kingsfan
@DeanD Yea I'm not letting this tinnitus drive me down anymore. I've experience the depths it can pull you. I'm trying to rebuild my life, but nothing seems to be going my way. It's tough to keep going with the enormous weight tinnitus puts on our shoulders.
    kingsfan
@Cmspgran I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing either of mine. I only have one of them currently, the other is with my daughter.
    kingsfan
@Juliane You seem to always be here picking me up. you're way too sweet. Thank you
I'll be dead soon if no one gives me a fucking job
    Ryan Scott
@Juliane hard to find people who understand in general lol. My family don't even understand.
    4Grace
    kingsfan
@Ryan Scott It really is hard to get a job with tinnitus. I probably would have just applied to be a UPS driver or something. Seems they make more than I do in my web dev career. But it would destroy my ears and probably my back =P
Turned off my phone, wrapped it in a towel, and stuffed it in a suitcase in a closet. Taking no chances.
The PVCs and PACs are back from the stress. It's exhausting when your heart can't pump oxygen/remove CO2 throughout your body properly.
Another day, another slew of rejection letters.
    Juliane
Oh no @kingsfan :-( Looking for a job is a full time job! I hope you will soon be invited for an interview and land a great well-paid job.
Got a week off from the electrical hiss. Of course I still had horrible tinnitis, but it was bliss. Started up again for no reason...
    Juliane
Why do you think the hiss went away?
Sore throat even though I'm the only person who masks in probably the whole county. People walking around hacking their lungs out in public
    kingsfan
Lets see if insurance still pays for Covid tests. Hopefully my tinnitus doesn't get even worse...
    RunningMan
For sure, I'm not seeing many people wearing masks when I go into public places.
This is how badly T has my mind messed up. I just now found out today is not Saturday. All day yesterday I thought it was Friday...
    Ryan Scott
I mean to be fair when you have severe tinnitus, does the day really matter anyways lol. New day same BS. Nothing too look foward to regardless.
    kingsfan
@Ryan Scott Every day is different with me. It's exhausting.
Struggling the past couple days. I handle my tinnitus really well when I don't have these ultrasonic freq tones/hissing
    Tryn2BHopeful
I hear you, I got this low frequency being a PITA, along with my normal high pitch... No rhyme or reason, just another way to torture me.
    kingsfan
@Tryn2BHopeful Trying to wrap my head around what low freq tinnitus would be like. This condition is so personal that, even while suffering from it, it's difficult to imagine what anyone else's experience is like.
Not sure why I spike when I haven't even left the house in days
    kingsfan
@Hardwell Now I never know what each day will be like. And that hour I was on the side of the highway a few months ago just made things even more random and extreme.
    Ryan Scott
Yeah I think T just does whatever it wants honestly man, for no reason. Been confined to the couch for 10 months and still get spikes for no reason. Just such a dumb condition like no other to have to live with.
    kingsfan
I got a kick out of your cause of tinnitus "turning everything up to 11" - so did all my friends and they will never get T ever. Why us?
    kingsfan
@cjbhab But it still took another decade of abusing car stereos and earphones to set it all in motion.
    Tryn2BHopeful
Took 2 pills... and likely alot of stress...
    kingsfan
@Tryn2BHopeful Otoxicity really is a whole different beast. Another member here had her hearing destroyed from a single course of azithromycin. I used to take that stuff regularly for blepharitis. I even had it in eye drop form.
