@Juliane I'm a UI designer and front end web developer. I can also do graphic design work. I've worked in the travel, video game, home builder, and music and events industries. Some I worked for companies directly, others were while working at a design agency.

I will do remote or in-office. I'll work anywhere needed, though I'd prefer southern california.
    Juliane
@kingsfan Sorry, did not see your reply! That sounds great. You have a very creative and versatile profile and if I had a company I would hire you on the spot :-) Are there a lot of remote job postings in those fields?
Sinus rinse with earplugs in might have been a bad idea. Think I made my right ear louder, or maybe I'm just focusing on it more? can't tell
Whats up with my brain. Took me 5 minutes of frustration to remember the word occlusion, a term I know incredibly well. Happens all the time
Hide your phones, and keep your TV's and radios off on OCT 4 between 2-3 pm EST in US. FCC alert system test scheduled
So I went to the urgent care for my ear pain and turns out I have fluid behind the eardrum, but no sign of infection. Likely allergies.
Also, I think I'm at the point where I cannot survive without taking gabapentin. Is my T just that bad, or did I somehow develop dependency?
[2] Took a sip of a cold brew with pumpkin cold foam and was instantly thrown back in time.
    sakrt
Mmmm Looooove everything pumkins. :) What brew did you have? Last one I had was John Adams. I love John Adams. You?
    kingsfan
@sakrt Cold brew coffee =). I'm more of a whiskey drinker than a beer drinker. Really the only beers I like are Modelo, Sapporo and Blue Moon.
    sakrt
@kingsfan oops. :) ha. Not much of beer drinker either, but the curiosity of pumpkinspice w/ it at the time, and the interesting seasonal varieties. Great w/ coffee too, but not tried "iced"/cold. Did it spike your T?
FYI, Small towns are no quieter than the city
    BobbieJay-1954
I guess it's all based on your neighbors and surrounding area. My aunt and uncle live on a very quiet cul-de-sac in a small town and I'm jealous they don't have obnoxiously loud neighbors with all kinds of cars and motorcycles, or ones that light off fireworks all year round.
    kingsfan
@BobbieJay-1954 Any one of the neighbors are mowing on any given day. F250/350 Diesel trucks driving down the main at the end of the street. Harley bikes in the summer. Freight trains blasting horn through town 4-5 times a day/night. Prop planes flying overhead.
    BobbieJay-1954
Sounds exactly like my neighborhood. It's genuinely awful. I'm lucky they mow the lawns here about once a week (I live in a condo) but when they do it's so annoying.
After a couple of days of 0 hissing, it just randomly popped up while sitting on the computer last night, no trigger, nothing.
    DeanD
@kingsfan ahh ok, that explains it. Hissing to me (my hissing) is like air coming out of a tyre.
My high pitch electrical buzz is also my most challenging too
I do get frustrated with every study, and any tests, with no mention of pitch, and whether pitch was ever changed.
Yes we all want silence but a change in pitch to my version of hissing would do me too!

    Strange and bad

Mine is like tuning an old radio high frequency signals maybe? Constantly an electrical metallic pulsating screech. Has a static base I can feel or its so loud thats how its perceived. Its unmaskable and what kills me. The white noise/static is max volume in my ear drums. It went ballistic when I worsened a few months back. FML. All tones I habituated too. Now, they are UNDER the static. Its that loud.
To guy who decided to use the dyson ear blaster 3000 in the restroom, when there were paper towels right beside it... FU, man...
Went to turn down the volume on my phone and accidentally turned it up to max. Can't make this stuff up.
    Juliane
    Oh no :-/
    Andrei88
lol yeah man tell me about it!
    BobbieJay-1954
I do this on my computer at least once a day. I'll turn up a quiet program's volume and then Windows will BLARE a notification sound. Love it!
Crazy how loud the 4khz tone in my left ear gets and it doesn't bother me at all but the ultra-high pitch ringing and hissing annihilates me
    MaxRabbit
Unmaskable, squealing, high pitch static/hiss is THE WORST. You cannot function. If you want to trade pure tones for it? You have no idea what this is. The static hiss is pure torture and makes wearing protection a particular insanity. If the pulsing, hissing, shooting static was gone? I would have myself and my life back. I have about 5 regular T tones and ll take 5 more over this hell.
    Tryn2BHopeful
I got the high pitch static, hiss that breaks up and skips around. I get the low hum sometimes as well. Both are frustrating in their own way. The low hum almost has a feeling to it in your ears. The high pitch hissing is just un-maskable and you hear it over every thing. I have had the high pitch since day one, so I guess I am more used to that one atm... ugh.
    Mo8409
I have the hiss, electrical with pure tone that fades in and out. I can feel my noise in my right ear.
    Hey @kingsfan !
Are you the guy in the picture? Because I have a very close friend who looks EXACTLY like him. Even the outfit!
    Joshua Macleod
@kingsfan We talking Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and The Screaming Trees? Because I'm right there with you.
    El BUZZ
@kingsfan @ECP You guys need to watch The Wire in case you haven't done so.
    kingsfan
@El BUZZ I've actually seen a little bit of the first season of the Wire. Good show. If I ever subscribe to HBO again I'll finish it, but I'm not too happy with the current direction of the company since taken over by Discovery.
Spiking once again. 3 variables happened last night. Not fun trying to figure which it could have been. I should know better after ~3 years
    ECP
Oh, after I typed that reply on this page, I saw your recent thread on the brain fog and static hiss. It's amazing how much adaptation these conditions require. You have my sympathy and support for sure.
    Juliane
I must be still too new in the game because I simply don't get how you all tackle spikes without having a meltdown. My current spike is making me suicidal... Not least since I have no idea what caused it besiddes maybe a few glasses of wine. Hope both our spikes settle down asap.
    kingsfan
@Juliane It's not easy, but once you've had enough you kind of just start to expect it to be temporary every time. Then it's less stressful and more just annoying and exhausting, but you can power through it.

I think not stressing about it helps it go back down faster.
Why do decibel level charts list vacuum cleaners as 70db? I would kill for one that quiet.
    TheIncident
you can also make a carboard box for the vacuum to put it in and put a hole for the vacuum tube to only that tightly fits around the tube with some pink fluffy insulation onto the cardboard box's inner walls and seal it during use while distancing yourself from it (carboard used mainly to avoid using power tools).
    TheIncident
It's pretty expensive, but with some X5A's on with all those tricks added, perhaps it would become nearly inaudible at that point. I could barely hear mine's motor with X5A's, but I definitely heard the aspiration or sucking sounds coming from the wand's tip while using it, they're usually the loudest sounds with vacuums in my experience when it comes in contact with things it's sucking in.
    kingsfan
@TheIncident I've seen some lists of quiet vacuums but haven't taken the time to really investigate. I'll keep those in mind though.

The kirby I tried is a canister vacuum, but it's a ~20 yr old vacuum so maybe the tech is better now.

The last time I used an attachment I forgot that my x5a's were around my neck and was just vacuuming with musician earplugs. Had a terrible spike after that
Hello. How is the Mirt going? Has anything become a little easier? I really hope it's working for you
    kingsfan
I don't plan on trying it again. On to the next drug I guess.
