  • hello, i was wondering if you ever tried gabapentin? if so, did it worsen your tinnitus?
    BellaMia
No, since mine was med induced I stay away from meds and use herbals and vitamins.
I understand everyone suffers differently. Tolerance & mental status, unique as well. It's easy to sink fast so I try to stop the sinkin 4 u
    cyberspace
    Sinking so much I'm drowning
    Mo8409
@cyberspace I feel everyone is on this site. I'm so sorry you're having a hard time with everything. ❤️
Why in the world am I up at 2am? I work in 3 hours. This should be fun. Good morning everyone. Have a beautiful day. ❤️
    RunningMan
It sounds like you didn't get enough sleep. I know that feeling too well. Hope work wasn't too bad. Do you know when you will get the new cat, yet?
    Mo8409
Work wasn't too bad, thankfully. Actually the new kitten comes tomorrow morning. She's a rescue so they have to come to my house to make sure everything is clean and safe for a cat. ❤️ I haven't had a pet in over 10 years and hoping it's an easy transition.
Verdict's in, extensive testing for everything. Ears are perfectly fine & healthy, brain is okay with malformation. Live life, continue on.
    SarahMLFlemmer
    Praise God!
    Tryn2BHopeful
I am glad everything is healthy and ok. I wish there was a better outcome for your T, but it seems you have made peace with it. I am happy for you and hope to be able to to do the same thing one day!
    Mo8409
@tryingmybest Well thankyou. Life is difficult for all of us but it doesn't mean it has to define us. ❤️
I go for my 2nd opinion about my Chairi Malformation tomorrow. It's crazy how hidden conditions are found later in life.
    Mo8409
@BrOKeN_1 Thankyou, I appreciate that. Being upset that I (we) have T won't change the fact that it happened. I try to do research on undoing it and finding the cause, treating symptoms and share my progress with you guys. Life is short and there's no time to waste obsessing about something that makes it harder. Life is still life and you are still you. Keep pressing forward. ❤️
    RunningMan
You mentioned you were habituated 3 weeks ago. That definitely would make it easier. Truly happy for you. I'm nowhere near that, and it gets harder when new variable tones appear. Anxiety, depression, insomnia, pains from medication..... it is debilitating at times. Struggling through and hoping it gets better.
    Mo8409
@RunningMan I still have my moments but I'm pushing forward or forcing myself to. I will pray for you to get back to your old baseline. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
    (3) But been stuck in a funk. Feeling lonely. Typically I'm a pretty positive person but sometimes I'm human to. Need a hug.
    RunningMan
Yeah, this midwest weather took a turn for the worse. Not as cold today, but very gloomy here. Not looking forward to the long winter coming. I like being outside a lot in warmer weather. I send you a virtual hug.
    Mo8409
@RunningMan Sending a hug back to ya. I like being outside too. So since this is my first winter with T, I'll have to stay busy. Gym, house projects, work extra hours, etc.
    4Grace
@Mo8409 you are such a strong and beautiful soul. Hope you return to feeling better soon.
    (2) I've always kept people at arms length because I don't have time for drama. I'd rather talk about ghosts or space or go on an adventure.
    Mo8409
@Juliane Oh, I've seen something much more then a ghost. It was one of the reasons I got baptized.
    Juliane
    I am afraid to ask...
    4Grace
@Mo8409 - I believe what you have seen. It's incredible. I would not have believed you over a year ago. God bless. Great news with the cat!
    (1) Maybe seasonal depression? Feeling depressed. Don't really have friends, maybe 2. I'm an introvert/loner and always have been.
    MindOverMatter
Im an introvert too @Mo8409 (its just me personality), but I find a lot of insight and pleasure in solitude. Solitude is not loneliness - to me at least. Its better to have 2-3 good friends, than 10+ so-so friends. Some days are just heavier than others - its the circle of life.
    Mo8409
@TheCapybara Thank you for listening to my little speech. Hopefully we can get though this season change without too much trouble. This is my first winter with T. So its an adjustment to say the least.
    Supersix
I'm a big introvert and love to isolate.
Had a dream I was holding my son. Woke up hysterical. The reality of life can be so cruel. I personally believe earth is hell.
    Juliane
Yes earth seems like it could be hell. Gosh that would explain so much
    Mo8409
@Juliane I'm telling ya. This place is hard. Most days I'm able to cope with everything that has happened but then I have those moments of dispair like everyone else and just completely melt down. Between the loss of my beautiful boy and then my new diagnosis and T. My life has completely been flipped in a matter of 3 years.
    Juliane
I am so sorry :-( I don't know why life has too be so tough and unfair. I don't feel it is teaching me anything or making me a better person. Not at all. It's just a waste of life basically. I don't know what to say except I hope some miracle will intervene and heal us both.
It's 3am and the soreness begins. I hope everyone has the best Halloween. Stay safe and try to have some fun in your own way. ❤️
    RunningMan
Hope the recovery is quick and smooth. Happy Halloween. Hopefully you can still find some enjoyment for your favorite holiday.
Out of surgery. Having no anesthesia is not for the weak. Thank you U of M for taking my tinnitus serious enough to accommodate me. ❤️
    TheCapybara
@Mo8409 Glad to hear it! And Happy Halloween :) I wish we officially celebrated it over here but only a handful of people actually decorate their houses. :<
    Mo8409
@TheCapybara Oh no! It's like the best holiday ever! That's so sad. I'm sorry.
    RunningMan
I had thought it was the Chiari Malformation surgery since you had mentioned it again recently in reference to surgery. But good this seems to have gone well. I'm holding up about the same so far. Good and bad days, some additional T chirping part of the time lately.
Only you can change your life and how you view it. Remember this even in the most difficult situations. Much love ❤️
Wanted to spread some positivity! I'm about 7 months in & am able to finally listen to a fan. My reactivity has gone down!
    ErikaS
@Mo8409 wow this is so amazing, I am so jealous as a fan at night was my go to for years! I really hope something makes my reactivity subside some day, however I'm a SSHL case from ear infection so not sure if my prognosis is positive regarding reactivity.
    Mo8409
@ErikaS I can still hear it over the fan but it doesn't react as much most days and then there's days like today where it's a little louder but compared to what it was it's a win! I have hope for you and your body healing, I really do.
    Mo8409
@ErikaS I mean mine was med induced but it also "woke up" my hidden brain malformation I didn't know I had, the perfect storm. So my prognosis isn't any better then yours with my brain all messed up but things do happen. Keep the faith!
Just put in an application for a beautiful looking kitten. My daughter has wanted an animal her entire life, she's 14. Early Xmas present?
So pissed! I have 3 new life altering diagnosis including the brain & my work (hospital) denied my vaccine exemption! Now it's war!
    Mo8409
@ErikaS It's sickening! I work for science and am all for science and understand it can go wrong but when you force people to do something they are against isn't what I believe in when it comes to medicine! I joined healthcare to help people not make them suffer. Now I'm seeing how selfish the companies can be.
    Lurius
I had the mindset of @MadeleineHope when I was given the choice of vaxing and I opted out hard. I also isolated hard for 2 years, which was brutal for my body but probably ultimately worth it. After Dirk De Ridder told me about 1 in 10 have a bad reaction (relating to T), that was all I needed to know. Thats WAY too high.
    Juliane
That is insane. You have legit reason not to get it. I hope you will either get your way or refuse the vaccine. Not worth it!
I wonder if spikes will ever go away in time. Have a spike today but oh well. Surgery in 10 days. Suck it up buttercup! ❤️
    Tryn2BHopeful
I hope your surgery goes well! Who knows maybe it will help T.
    Mo8409
@Tryn2BHopeful It's a simple procedure and U of M was so kind to agree that I can opt out of anesthesia so it doesn't effect my T.
Hi @Mo8409 , I see that you have recovered quite quickly from H, what aided your improvement? Thank you, glad you are feeling so much better. I'm new to all of this.
    GG_Ear
@Mo8409 Thanks so much for your reply. I'm afraid I was overprotecting by wearing plugs around street traffic and in busy restaurants/cafes....then I was like 'oh screw this, and took the plugs out'.... then my pain started. Before it was just sound distortions/reactivity. Probably did too much too soon.
    GG_Ear
@Mo8409 A week before this all started I was exposed to a sudden loud blast from my car radio... but I also have a history of some TMD and anxiety, and listening to a lot of audio through earphones.... so I'm not sure what caused it. Was it gradual and then car radio was just the catalyst... who knows. I've had low-level T for years, but this is next level!
    Mo8409
@GG_Ear It could of been all of the above. See if your hearing is damaged first and go from there. Yes baby steps for sure with hyperacusis. When I first started out I'd put earplugs in for an hour then take them out for an hour. Then I'd slowly wear them less and less and expose myself to noises that bothered me. Homemade ginger tea helps with pain and discomfort.
Habituation has been reached at 6.5 months. Will post further success if silence ever occurs. No meds, music therapy, hyperacusis 90% gone.
    Barry098
Very happy for you @Mo8409 …just don't become complacent about protecting yourself in dangerous situations, because it can come screaming right back! I know this from personal experience…
    Mo8409
@Barry098 Mine isn't from hearing loss. My ears are in perfect shape. I have Chiari Malformation and also took a low dose anti anxiety that did me in. I still wear plugs if I'm mowing the lawn or excessively loud things. Maybe if I get surgery to fix my skull the tinnitus will go away? Who knows. I wish the very best for you! ❤️
    Stayinghopeful
Genuinely made me smile reading this. Very happy to hear positive news
Starting the fasting diet. Inflammation plays a big role in my misery. Plus weight loss is good. I'll have a summer body in no time.
Went to the movies to test the waters. Everything went good. The new Exorcist wasn't as good as I was hoping. Lame.
    Tryn2BHopeful
@Mo8409 I would say a 5. That's about normal. I hear it on top of everything, the low hum annoys me most but it's intermittent.
    Stayinghopeful
Spewing! I was so keen to see it,
I'm slowly working through a list of horrors to catch up on. Glad to hear it didn't effect your ears too!
    RunningMan
Some people report sounds causing spikes. My tinnitus varies alot, so I don't know if any sounds are spiking it or increasing sensitivity for hyperacusis. But I don't like to take chances. You had your loops, so you were being careful. I actually prefer to watch movies at home, anyway.
Not sure why exactly but I've been having multiple dreams a night. Before T I hardly ever dreamt at all. Wonder if my brain is in overdrive.
    Mo8409
@BB23 You don't get brain damage from T lol. It is just a noise but a stress response from it can cause physical issues. The medications can cause the issues as you know. Medication caused my T. T is all on how you mentally can handle it.
    Mo8409
@RunningMan I've always tossed and turned, so maybe you're right. I sleep just the same as I did without T. I just have a little more stress from the noise vs silence.
    gameover
@Mo8409 Of course it is brain damage. Please. That manifests itself as a noise that isn't there.
I ❤️ you all & am thankful 4 all of u. 2 have friends come together w/ideas 4 treatment & provide comfort when others r scared is beautiful.
Too much black tea on accident. Here comes another caffeine spike. Damn you pumpkin spice. Lol
    Tryn2BHopeful
I think the good part here is that you know that it will cause a spike and you can cope with that!
    Mo8409
@Tryn2BHopeful Life is too short not to enjoy things. I'm careful about my caffeine intake & moved to tea only now but sometimes I accidentally over do it. T is just a noise... annoying sure. Stressful at times, yup! But you are still you and life is still the same as it was before we got our own theme song stuck in our heads!
    Mo8409
@Joe Cuber Don't worry. I'll have the same issues when peppermint comes out for Christmas haha I love to suffer I guess.
