  • Monday, Tuesday sudden stretches of near silence, then Wednesday BAM, someone suddenly rings my bell when I'm in the hallway, back to fucked.

What matters is the monthly trend and the global lows. The setbacks aren't important, at least as far as the long run is concerned.
Hey can I ask if you still experiencing crackling in the ears when swallowing. Or any sensation of ear fullness (not muffled hearing though). Thanks, hope you're doing well.
One week into new dieting regime results: 1) woke up to pretty silent T, 2) still reactionary as heck, 3) craving chocolate SO BAD.
    Bob den Hartog
So hang in there! Don't expect any results so early in, as I think you usually start to notice something after at least a month or, with keto, once ketosis sets in, I think?

By the way, I just saw someone on Reddit who said he eliminated his tinnitus after he got on the Carnivore diet (aka The MEN! Diet For MEN! Who Love Their MEAT!), but that took at least 6 months. Not to discourage you, but the opposite: it goes to show we're all different, and it could take a little while until your body starts to adjust and repair.

Either way, I think all the Paleo, Keto and Carnivore diets, as well as the intermittent fasting regimes have one thing in common: minimal sugar and carbs, minimal processed foods, all nature.
How's your pain been recently? Mines back again. Woo

It's never everboth ears at once . What does that mean do you think?
    Bob den Hartog
I have no idea why it's always only one of them, but the fact that a sound usually affects only one ear while the other one is fine is, like I said, mostly a confirmation that the physical ear itself is fine, and it's an expression of the brain -coming from the fight or flight stimuli.
    COYS
Yeah I see your point. This morning it was my left . This afternoon it's my right
Got another random moment of silence while cleaning the kitchen counter. Didn't want it to end, so, apartments never been cleaner.

My audiologist pointed out the longer term trends is what matters. This is the same approach as we need to take for a lot of things, from fitness to finance to work. Right now I'm helping produce Q1 reports and it's a lot clearer now how a few campaigns and tests have performed. It really wasn't clear at the beginning, because the daily data was too erratic, but now we can see the complexity of it all.

It might be good to annotate your T in a diary with a 1 to 10 scale. I got the idea from a powerlifter called Johnny Candito when he did this with a back injury he had. It meant that when he had a bad day, he could look back and see how the overall trend had improved as time had gone on.
    Bob den Hartog
Yes, I've started annotating the T several times now, but each time it proved very difficult or undoable, as my T changes so much throughout the day. A day can start very good, and completely go bad, or vice versa.
After months of gradual worsening, yesterday, I woke up to no T. It slowly came back, but lower in volume (whisper it: am I... recovering?).
Ok. Realized T is gone, all of a sudden. Tempted to just stay like this. Position is hurting neck, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
    Bob den Hartog
No, not something special, just hunching over my iPad. I just noticed, also earlier, that once I move, or do or think something, it comes back. Might have had to do with things I just listened to? That I had just worked out? Combined with position? And my focus on that? Combined with a certain state of calmness.

Even though my baseline seems to increase lately due to exposing myself to sounds, I also get these random moments of low T. I keep hoping that would also lower my baseline, but the following morning, nope.
    Bob den Hartog
And yes, it's great and encouraging that it can go this low at times, even though it's combined with moments of louder T. Mornings are sometimes louder than evenings now... the complete opposite of before.
When I wear my earplugs at night, I often completely forget I have them in. Really, brain? *This* you chose to habituate on?
    Bob den Hartog
@Drone Draper, extremely heightened. Only wear them when I also have the dishwasher running that night. My ears still need to readjust to sounds.
    Bob den Hartog
@Strife_84, I also usually feel better when they're in, since I can tell myself the heightened T isn't real, is not as loud as compared to regular sounds, it's just my perception. Also, you don't need to think about environment sounds. But I overplugged for a month due to pain hyperacusis, so I really need to work on desensitization and plug as little as possible.
    Bob den Hartog
I do think, and have experienced, that the more you wear them, the more your T will spike.
Now that I'm working on sound exposure, I'm getting randomized moments of low T near silence, in between louder T. Weird. And confusing.
Exposed myself to lots of sounds yesterday, went to bed with bad T, accepted it as a result, and now... it's so... quiet?
Thought my tinnitus wasn't so bad, if it weren't for that constant vacuum cleaner sound. Turns out my neighbor is actually vacuum cleaning.
My T just changed to the sound of twittering birds. So I'm basically producing my own masking sounds.

    lucky you it sounds nice
    Bob den Hartog
They're a little too busy to be relaxing, but yeah, could be worse. The only constant for me is change though, so it won't be for long.
Going outside again for a walk, first time since H major backlash. Wish me luck .
    Drone Draper
    Best of luck
    OnceUponaTime
Hope it went well and you enjoyed your walk.
    Bob den Hartog
Thanks! Well... the walk itself went well, it seemed. Sunny outside, enjoyed it very much, no pain, so I didn't plug. Got home - half an hour later, the pain hit. Not fair, should've given me a fair warning. Oh well. It seemed to have gone down again by now... :).
Setback last night, while talking with a friend. Right ear now also painful. But! H improved significantly in 2 weeks last time, now again?
Watched favorite tv program last night. Hardly H pain, reactive T did react, but did not *override* tv. Feels like I can watch tv again!
    Markku
Hey Bob. That's great to hear! Can I ask what is your favorite tv program? :)
    Bob den Hartog
Hey! Currently that's the Dutch show Wie Is De Mol, haha (I live in the Netherlands). It's my favorite of everything that's not Netflix or HBO ;).
