Tinnitus That Grows in Volume Throughout the Day — Anybody Else?

I don't sleep with earplugs as I don't need to. I know some on here do, but it's not for me. I'd only consider it if I was sleeping in a warzone or something, or anywhere else that's too loud. Going to bed with earplugs in a quiet room is nonsensical to me. I can understand those who use them...

Best Way to Habituate — Silence or Sound Enrichment?

I originally turned to earplugs while asleep as with mild H a passing car was waking me up, as was the forced air heat when it turned on an off. It helped quiet those sounds, and also I noticed that my T was quieter in the morning, and also the T would get less within a few minutes of insertion...

Improvements for People with Burning Pain (in Silence) Hyperacusis?

I've had severe pain hyperacusis for around 6 weeks. 2.5 weeks ago I watched a film too loud (35-40 dB) after a bottle of wine and that caused a nasty flare up. Ever since I have to wear earplugs 24/7 because my ears start burning after a few minutes without them. Oddly enough I run quick...

Noise-Induced Tinnitus — Positive Success Stories

I'm back! I wish I were coming back to tell everybody how great things are going, and for the most part, they are. I have tinnitus, and it is part of life. I avoid loud noises and fireworks. If I'm going to be around loud noises, I wear earplugs and/or earmuffs, and if the noise bothers me or...

How Loud Is a Room of 15 People? (2x Tinnitus Increase?)

Hey again, Last night I was invited to a small social event, not something I get invited to often, so I decided to go. Brought earplugs, wore the earplugs at first, but then felt embarrassed for wearing them at one point, so I took them out. It didn’t seem that loud, but I didn’t check decibels...

Massive Tinnitus Pitch Change, from High to Low, Over Time?

My original noise was already kind of low so I’m not sure how drastic I’d say this change is, but for a few days now it’s this really low hum. When I put earplugs in it sounded like I was in a submarine or a spaceship or something. Last night it sounded similar to what you described. If I’m in a...

"Full" Recovery from Tinnitus — Not an Actual Possibility?

Not me. Before T, I needed silence to concentrate or sleep. Any little sound annoyed me. I was hyperaware of any sound in an otherwise quiet environment. And I never heard even the faintest T sound.

"Full" Recovery from Tinnitus — Not an Actual Possibility?

Well, kind of hard to explain. I simply meant to say that after 50 years of everyday life our ears aren't like new. The noise (maybe like slight static) in a quiet room with earplugs in is quite normal, and everyone would hear *something* in that situation. It wasn't bothersome, and I NEVER...

Should I Use White Noise to Mask My Buzz/Ring? Or Continue Listening to My Tinnitus?

Not just time... tons of work also. I avoided all loud exposure as best I could. When I use the vacuum, I use both foam earplugs and earmuffs, for example. I also have not been to any events, and listen to anything in the car on a low setting. I also sleep with earplugs each night which helped...

UPDATE! I went to see my ENT today. No hearing loss HORRAY. But I got mixed messages. The audiologist said I don't need to wear earplugs unless around noise louder than 85 decibels. Avoiding earplugs will help the brain train to not hear the tinnitus. Makes sense because without the earplugs...

Is it completely gone, or can you hear it in a quiet room (or in a quiet room while wearing earplugs or muffs)? H often takes 6-12 months to go away. It goes away a lot more often/reliably than tinnitus. There is a good chance that you will end up being ok.
