New Tinnitus Tone in Good Ear After Phone's Low Battery Alert Beep

My sympathies - I just moved into a hotel room for the sole reason of being somewhere more quiet than my home, so I feel you on reactivity. 2 months in and things like chewing pretzels, typing on a keyboard, and a million other things cause micro spikes... Almost Every Noise Spikes My Tinnitus

Thanks. Perhaps but I can’t figure out what it is reacting to. It has been quiet all day. Right now I’m just sitting down in a quiet living room and it is blaring away. I have not assaulted my ears in the past few years. As a matter fact I’ve been very careful. I wear earplugs in loud...

Does Anyone Feel Like They Have to Act at a Job or Life to Get By?

I feel this way increasingly more and more. Going to an interview was painful because it's a quiet room and this damn ringing makes it hard to focus on the conversation. I went to a funeral the other day and that was very uncomfortable as well. It's quiet so the ringing is loud then the...

Best Protection for This Event, for Someone with High and Low Frequency Tinnitus?

You need to insert them pretty good with the thingy that comes with it. It gets softer after a while. You'll probably get used to them in a while. You can find different sizes and brands, but it's soft so you're probably just not used to it. About the breathing, you're overthinking here. if you...

Facial Paralysis and Tingling — Anyone Else Have This?

Hey guys. My main problem used to be dysacusis which has decreased immensely a few days after discontinuing Flonase but still waxes and wanes and is generally pretty distressing. However, I have some new symptoms. I went to a hospital today for the first time since onset, to get a CT scan. My...

Is There Any Organisation That Provides Euthanasia for Tinnitus?

The double protection isn't doing you any favors. IMO, putting earphones over earplugs creates a kind of echo chamber and concentrates the sound inside the cups more. I'm not sure how it works but I've experienced it when at the shooting range.

Well in that sense it's nt completely gone. I can kind of hear it if I wear earplugs in a 30dB room, but if I'm not wearing earplugs, then I can't.

The Difference Between 'Those with Tinnitus' and 'Those Who Suffer from Tinnitus'

Where there you go, he barely even hears it and doesn't experience hyperacusis... Of course it doesn't bother him. If one couldn't handle tinnitus at that level than I'm not sure how they could handle life, as at that level, it is less intrusive than the sound of a ceiling fan on low.

Should I Use White Noise to Mask My Buzz/Ring? Or Continue Listening to My Tinnitus?

I used to sleep with earplugs and it seemed to help help back then. However thing worsened and I cannot fall asleep without masking. Will Increasing Hearing Loss Make My Tinnitus Worse?

Thank you everyone who replied. I can't tell you how much that means to be. Anyone who does not have tinnitus just has no idea just how exhausting it is. Update - I got hearing aids fitted yesterday. They have programmed white noise into them so right now I am sitting listening to this noise...

Hello All. Acquired Tinnitus Six Days Ago. Need Advice!

This is incorrect. Earplugs with a rating of 32 will decrease noise by about 12dB. There is a formula to figure this out and just because they are rated at 30dB doesn't mean they will reduce noise by as much.

Increased Tinnitus After Shooting a Pistol a Couple of Rounds

Well yeah my normal tinnitus basically would go away if I was careful for about 6 months with no loud noise. Years would go on with me getting it back from loud noise, then resting. Setback in Tinnitus and Hyperacusis After Blow-Off Valve Popped and Dumped Air Quickly

Are Spikes from Loud Noise Permanent?

Hi @VickiD. I am sorry to know of the discomfort that you are going through at the moment caused by a spike that has resulted in you hearing persistent hissing. I have bilateral tinnitus, but it’s not a classic high pitched eee. Is This Chronic Tinnitus After Going to an Indoors Techno Festival?

I agree, the likelihood is that your tinnitus will stay the same for many years if you protect from very loud sounds. Only a small minority of people will worsen or get the worst symptoms. But we must protect from harmful sounds and ototoxic meds. Tinnitus Talk can be helpful, but also can...

Overuse of Hearing Protection — What Do Professionals Say?

My personal experience is that balance is the key. I felt that I was exhausting my ears and...
