Share Your Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine Experience: Any Impact on Your Tinnitus or Hyperacusis?

Got my second Pfizer shot over a week ago. Only side effects were muscle pain and a bit of a fever for a short day. Kept me from work, but nothing else special. My tinnitus was actually even slightly lower than usual, but I attribute this to the default fluctuations in its baseline.

I Now Have Tinnitus After Receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

Just happened to stumble upon this thread. I notice most people talking about what the vaccine could be doing to the ears to cause tinnitus, so I think it's important to emphasize that tinnitus isn't just a hearing symptom. Stress and heavy muscle strain (e.g. on the neck in my case) can...

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

I'm one of the cases where hearing loss is not a factor, at least as far as you can check for that. I believe I read somewhere last year that the general perception is that 70% of the tinnitus cases has hearing loss as a cause. No clue anymore what article said that though, so don't quote me on...

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

One can never be certain. However, as T stopped increasing and started declining shortly after beginning with physio exercises, I do believe there is a cause and effect relationship there.

Tinnitus — My Journey Back to a Normal Life

IMHO, it would have been selfish to leave without saying or giving anything. Th I only used the lowest settings (0.5, I guess?). Mostly because I did not "trust" the device yet, but it was all that I needed in the end. I'd say, use it at 0.5 for at least another week, and see if anything...

    Threw Away My AirPods Today

Keep up the physio for at least a few months, and make sure to do daily exercises at home as well. Poll: Do You Mask Your Tinnitus When You Sleep?

Hard to say, as it really depends on your individual case of T. My best advice would be to try out a multitude of coping mechanisms, and stick to the ones that work. I stopped masking when I found out that the sounds were actually exacerbating my T. If I was in a (fairly) silent environment...

Tinnitus and Hyperacusis/Ear Sensitivity After Microsuction and MRI

If you need another MRI at some point, try the "silent" type. This already maxes out at 70-75db without ear protection (and of course at 40-45 db with normal ear protection), so it's hardly a risk anymore. Had two of those so far, gave no issues at all.

Is Complete Silence Possible for a Tinnitus Sufferer?

One can never be sure, and I honestly have no experience with med-induced tinnitus. On average I went from 9/10...

Is Complete Silence Possible for a Tinnitus Sufferer?

That entirely depends on your definition of tinnitus. If T equals "the sounds that your body produces, despite you being able to consciously register them or not": then yes, everyone has tinnitus, as it is a fact that the body produces internal sounds. No one would deny that. However, "tinnitus...

20-Year-Old with Tinnitus: Can't Live Life Doing Nothing — World Is Loud, How Do You Go Out?

I guess that's different in your region: degrees don't matter that much here anymore. Is Complete Silence Possible for a Tinnitus Sufferer?

I'd expect it is caused by the neck. Sleeping on your belly puts a large strain on your neck anyway, back or sideways helps the neck recover more easily. This was quite a struggle for me at first, as I used to be a belly sleeper, but now sleep works out okay. My advice would be to get some...

Is Complete Silence Possible for a Tinnitus Sufferer?

Despite the general assumptions, T is not always a result of (failing) brain filtering. TMJ and neck trauma are clear examples of causes where the sound perceptions are "real", in akin of "normally not generated from within the body", thus a new perception which did not exist before. Filters are...

Long Time Sufferer... — Tinnitus Got Worse After a Loud Concert

There is still quite some debate on whether sound sensitivity and hyperacusis are the same/fall under the same flag. Agreed. These days, my "bad days" are indescribably better than my "good days" on onset, to the point where I hardly care anymore: this actually makes it hard to separate good from bad days :p The baseline is all that matters, try not to worry about the large differences between days.

Tinnitus Got Much Worse After Catching Coronavirus and the Resulting Increased Anxiety

Don't write this off too easily. Of course there is no guarantee if your cause is unknown, but many cases of tinnitus have a strong relationship with anxiety.
