    Suicidal

After over ten years of living with this condition and a dramatic worsening in 2022, plus some added hyperacusis, I did the unthinkable: I reached out to an assisted dying clinic in Switzerland. Typically, this organization quickly informs people if they can’t assist them upon first contact...

After Waking Up My Tinnitus Is Really Loud, Making Me Feel Like Hurting Myself

My tinnitus worsened in May 2022. After it had already worsened, I was on Amoxicillin for pneumonia in June 2022, and for a nasty gum infection just last week. Amoxicillin had no effect on my tinnitus.

Back Again, Unfortunately: Tinnitus Left My Perception Twice, Returned After Using In-Ear Headphones

In some respects yes, in others no. The constant eeeee in my left ear has gone down a bit, so that’s good. Unfortunately, I have developed this Morse code like sound in my right ear. Not particularly loud and only noticeable in silence but disheartening that it’s showed up. Tinnitus is wonderful!

It's okay I guess, very much in the Tank Control style of the older games, just a bit forgettable. Still worth playing though. Resident Evil 6 is indeed absolute nonsense. No idea why they went in that direction with it.

Back Again, Unfortunately: Tinnitus Left My Perception Twice, Returned After Using In-Ear Headphones

It has backed off in severity a little, but it's not gone back to where it was before, which is quite disheartening. However, I'm still hopeful as time goes on it will fade back or I will habituate to the point where I don't care so much. You are right, my old tinnitus seems perfect in...

Back Again, Unfortunately: Tinnitus Left My Perception Twice, Returned After Using In-Ear Headphones

Ah sorry, yes. Both noise induced tinnitus that I encountered in 2014 and again in 2016 faded away over the course of 6 or so months. No indication this is going to happen again though yet though, but it's only been 6 weeks. Luckily I've started to sleep a lot better in the last few weeks, so...

Back Again, Unfortunately: Tinnitus Left My Perception Twice, Returned After Using In-Ear Headphones

Sadly making a post I hoped I never would have had to make. I developed tinnitus in 2014, after a bad six months or so, it calmed down and I returned to normal. After a loud concert in 2016, I was thrown straight back to where I was with obtrusive tinnitus however again after 6 months it...

I'm a month short of my 5 year "anniversary" with tinnitus so i'll throw in my two cents here. Everything you've written in your post sums up how my life went and how I felt in the first 6 months of tinnitus showing itself in my life. Yet here I am, life running as normal with very few...

[Danny Boy Memorial Fund] In Loving Memory of Danny Boy

I must say I'm saddened learning about the passing of Danny Boy. I joined this forum back in 2014 roughly around the same time as him. I remember the early posts of his desperate struggle with tinnitus, they really resonated with me as I was also in the early stage freak out stage of dealing...

Can I Go to a Concert (Slow)?

It's entirely up to you. You need to weigh up if it's worth risking potential worsening of your tinnitus for one concert. Personally, I've been to close to 50 or so concerts since my tinnitus onset. I would recommend custom moulded ear protection as I never go without them. I'm very...

Otoharmonics (The Levo® Therapy System for Tinnitus)

Yeah these things are way overpriced for what they actually are. Especially considering how polarising they are for people who have paid up the cash for them. Some people I've spoken to claim they really helped them, others not so much. It's a lot of money to throw away for some people...

    I Can't Tolerate Tinnitus Anymore

The vast majority of people with tinnitus habituate to the condition. This is an important message to get out to those that are new and suffering. Granted it's not what a person in a highly panicked and anxious state wants to hear. I know from my own experience the first six months or so I...

Please, Give Me Some Good Advice (Second Time Habituation — Possibly?)

First, try to relax. Easier said than done I know but if you get yourself into a worked up state over your tinnitus it will sound louder and more obtrusive to you. I worsened my tinnitus in April 2016 thanks to a loud concert. What followed was a difficult couple of months whilst I tried to...

    What About God?

    What About God?

You aren't "made" to suffer from tinnitus. Tinnitus is the result of something going wrong in your brain, that's the only reason. I don't think there are any Gods above inflicting tinnitus on people. If there is, is that God worthy of any reverence? Sounds like a spiteful immoral...

Indulge me for a second. If you can't accept habituation, then what are you aiming for? They are both brain conditions, you are correct. However as I said, subjective conditions have always been seen as a less urgent When I was in a bad way early in my tinnitus days I would gladly have...

How Far Will You Go to Get Rid of Tinnitus?

Sure, tinnitus research is vastly under-funded and as a whole there is a lack of general awareness of it. However I think comparing tinnitus and epilepsy is a false equivalence. Tinnitus is subjective. Epilepsy has some very real physical characteristics. It's always been the case that...

Another Option for Me — Suicide

I find the opinion of people saying suicide is never an option a little condescending. Sadly for many people all over it is an option and one they take, for all manner of reasons. To tell someone who is in great distress and in a state of suicidal ideation that it's something "they can't" do...
